The air smelled familiar, different, different from the human world, from the university.
I blinked, and the world sharpened around me. I was standing in the center of Silver Moon Pack territory, but it was no longer as I’d left it months ago.
I took in familiar structures, the pack house where I’d served as an omega, the training grounds where Kai had once taught me to defend myself, and the cottages still scattered among the ancient trees. They were all there, recognizable but wrong.
There were deep claw marks gouging the earth in violent slashes. Also Scorch marks that blackened the wooden walls like infected wounds. The scent of blood and fear was fresh in the air, different types of broken weapons littered across the ground, arrows snapped in half, blades embed
