Chapter2

Ethan stood still in uttermost shock at what he just read on the girl's hands. Was it really a warning or were his eyes just playing tricks on him? Ethan blinked twice to confirm that and just like that, it disappeared. The warning was no longer there. All that was left was the same pack symbol imprinted on her wrist earlier. Ethan's face scrunched up in confusion as he tried to process what had just happened in front of him. It was difficult to comprehend, it felt like someone was trying to pass a message to him. The girl on the other hand noticed the uneasy look on his face, she fiddled with her palms and cleared her throat to say "I am sorry. I should not have scared you like that." She said in a low tone yet loud enough for Ethan to hear her clearly. After all their voices were the only sound heard in the woods at that moment. Ethan did not give her a response, he could not. His eyes remained fixated on the symbol, he kept trying to cipher the message and at the same time, the symbol on her wrist looked familiar. He just could not place where and when he had seen it. "I am Daisy by the way, who are you?" She asked with her hand stretched out for a friendly handshake. Ethan eyed her weirdly, had she not seen the message on her own wrist? Did it not freak her out? Was he the only one who could see it? Those questions swirled in his head and he tried his possible best to brush them off as he answered "Ethan Blackwood." He spoke eloquently ignoring her outstretched arm. "Okay." She muttered to herself. She took her hand bag and placed it into the pockets of her dress. "What are you doing here all by yourself in this dark forest?" She asked with a raised brow. "I should be asking you that. This is my forest not far away from home. I am usually here to take a walk to calm myself but for the first time, I got interrupted by someone." Ethan sneered at her. She chuckled lightly and raised her hand in mock surrender. "Fine, I am guilty as charged." She replied. Ethan sighed, he gazed at her one last time before attempting to walk away. His walk was already ruined by her so he planned on heading back to the pack house. This time, he was going to try to fall asleep again without any nightmares interrupting him. Suddenly, Daisy reached for Ethan's arm, she grabbed it tight causing him to freeze in his steps and gaze at her with an irritated look on his face. He hated being touched. It reminded him of past trauma and it always made him feel uneasy. Although, there was something different about Daisy's touch. For some weird reason, he did not feel disgust, instead he felt warm. Ethan pushed her hands off his arm and shot dagger glares at her. "Sorry, I am just a little scared and confused. I do not know my way around here. I think I might be lost." Daisy said rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. Even before Ethan could reply her, she beat him to it the moment she pointed out. "Oh, also. You look really familiar. I think I might have seen you somewhere before." She said. Ethan scoffed and shaked his head at her in disdain. Was that her way of trying to persuade him to help her because it was not working. "You must be a clown. I have never seen you in my life before and also, how is it any of my concern that you might be lost?" He snapped at her. Daisy looked taken aback by his sudden outburst. It annoyed her that he was not conforming to her bubbly and warm personality. Everybody Daisy knew and had met loved her. They loved her for her kind and friendly personality, it was a shock to her that Ethan did not seem the slightest bit fazed by it. "The least you can do is act like a gentleman and help me out of here. If you leave me along here, I could get eaten by hungry wolves and the blood would be on your own hands." Daisy groaned in frustration. Ethan hated the mention of blood, it also reminded him of his past trauma. He narrowed his eyes at her and emphasized his words slowly "Is that supposed to make me feel guilty?" "No, that was not my intention. I just want you to help me out of here. I have never been in this forest before and standing here with you gives me the creeps not to think of actually being here alone, all by myself." Daisy whined. Ethan face-palmed, it made him wonder how someone could be full of so much energy at night? It also made him wonder how she had gotten here in the first place. "How did you get here in the first place? Did you sleep walk or something?" Ethan yelled at her. She rolled her eyes at him and his actions reminded her of her overprotective father. "I ran away from home." She blurted out. That was definitely not the answer Ethan was expecting, why would she boldly say she ran away from home? It was an irresponsible act and it made Ethan feel disgusted. "It is more complicated than you think. I can survive on my own, I just need you to help me out of the woods." Daisy said. Ethan shuddered at the irony in her words. If she could survive on her own, why was she demanding for his help? Just as Ethan planned on replying her, his phone rang out loud startling the both of them. He fetched his phone out of his pocket and gazed at the caller ID. It was his grandmother calling. She knew about his walks at night so why was she calling? He answered the call and pressed the phone close to his ears. "Come home now Ethan, something terrible just happened."
