“What is on the itinerary for today?” Kael’s teeth grinded against each other as he brisked down the stairs and out of the building. He had Harry wait a few more minutes knocking on the door while he slowly peeled himself off Elara before leaving her behind in the room.
Harry’s brows turned into themselves as he chased Kael down. “Fenrisgard?”
Kael huffed out a breath as he stopped in his tracks and turned to Harry. “No,” his hand moved to his temples instinctively and he began rubbing them. “No Fenrisgard today, take it off the list. What were we formerly meant to do today?”
Harry's eyes darted around the environment as he took some steps closer to Kael. “Did something happen to you while you were in that room?” His tone was low.
Kael’s head jerked up to Harry’s as his eyes narrowed. “What? Was something meant to happen to me?”
Harry shook his head. “A few minutes ago, you wanted to go back to Fenrisgard, now you don’t. A few minutes ago, you looked ready for battle, but now your face is so pale I wouldn’t be shocked to know you threw up the little juice you had and now, you are rubbing your temples.” Kael’s hand paused midair and he slowly returned it to his side. “What happened to you these past few minutes?”
Kael shook his head. “Nothing. Just a slight headache.” He turned on his heels and marched towards the waiting cars. “The training grounds.” He said to the driver once he entered the car.
“No,” Harry said. He sat in the passenger seat and looked at Kael through the rear view mirror. “The pack square, remember? You have guests waiting for you.”
Kael didn’t remember but he nodded in agreement and looked out through the window. His hand, instinctively again, returned to his temple as he began massaging it.
The headache was back. This time, it was maturing into a migraine.
‘Do you want to tell me what is wrong with you?’ Harry asked through the mind link.
Kael stopped rubbing his temples and looked up at Harry in the rear view mirror. ‘I’m fine.’ He said with a tone of finality but Harry kept his eyes on him.
‘Is this about the slave?’
Kael rolled his eyes. ‘Keep Elara out of this.’
Harry chuckled internally. ‘Elara. Don’t tell me you’ve grown fond of her just within a day of her arrival.’
Kael’s hand went back to his temple. ‘Harry, please-’
“We are here.” The driver announced loudly cutting off anything Kael had to say. Both men ignored him and kept their eyes on each other. The driver’s eyes darted between the two pairs of eyes in the rear view mirror before quietly exiting the car.
“The slave is better off dead.” Harry turned fully to Kael once the driver was out of the car.
“We have had this conversation before, Harry. Nobody touches Elara.”
“And nobody will. That is why I am asking you to do it.”
“I will not do it.” Kael turned sharply and made to open the door but paused and turned back to Harry. “This is the last time we will have this conversation, Harry. I may be your friend but I am still your Alpha and by the gods I swear, I will have your head if you threaten the slave’s life again. Elara. Her name is Elara.” He opened the door and banged it behind him.
A sharp pain ran throughout Kael’s forehead once his feet touched the ground of the park square. He staggered forward a bit before regaining his balance. He wanted to grab his head and press it against a cold block, to massage it till there were no traces of the pain but he tucked his hands inside his pockets and squeezed his eyes shut, pressed his jaw together and bit down the pain.
Until he was certain what the cause of his pains were, nobody was to know he was suffering.
Harry chuckled in disbelief once the door banged shut behind Kael. He had known Kael to be dogged, ever since they were little he has been but that new character of his was on a different level of doggedness.
Shaking his head slightly, he got down and came to stand by Kael.
“No need to fight today, eeh. I was just looking out for you.”
Kael shook his head. “We are not fighting. I was just shoving you back into your boundaries.”
“And that has been duly noted.” Harry folded the sleeves of his dress shirt slightly below his elbows before crossing them against his chest. “So now, let’s enjoy the entertainment I have prepared for us. You, especially but it’s for us.” Harry nodded toward the right.
Seven ladies, clad in bright, colourful dresses emerged from a corner of the building standing in the middle of the park square and came to stand in front of both men.
Kael finally gave into the urge and pinched rhe bridge of his nose. “Is this what we came here for?”
The corner of Harry’s lips tipped up in a smile. “You are here to meet Zara. The rest are just formalities.”
“Heavens, Harry.” He muttered and forced the corner of his lips to tip up in a small smile.
“Relax,” Harry spoke from the corner of his mouth. “Enjoy the ladies wanting you.”
Kael shook his head and tucked his hands in his pants pockets. “Everyone but Zara Valentine, find your way out of here at once.”
Harry’s head snapped to Kael as a big smile crept up on his face. The ladies darted their eyes between each other and the two men before them.
“Do I need to forcefully remove you from here?”
“No, Alpha.” The ladies chorused as they bowed and hurried away.
Zara, a tall lady, about 5 '10, dressed in an olive green dress that highlighted her dark skin turned and watched as her colleague scampered away before turning back to Kael.
Her eyes remained on Kael as she slowly fluffed her round Afro hair. “Well, what was the need of dressing all cute and being this extra if you’re already in love with me?”
Kael ran his eyes from the big gold hoops hanging from her ears, the thin gold chains around her neck and the tiny clunky gold bracelets on her wrists.
“Get into the car.” He turned on his heels.
