Elara had barely sunk her shivering body into the bathtub when the door to the bathroom opened. She quickly hid her body in the foamy water as her eyes searched the door. Kael slowly walked in and Elara, seeing it was him, pursed her lips and looked away, waiting for him to pull the glass door open and walk into the tub section but Kael remained behind the glass. “You endangered your life.” Elara shivered slightly under the water and lowered her eyes. Her body was almost stiff when she woke up with pain running throughout her body, hadn’t it been those maids, Leah and Kathy -as they told her when she asked- she wouldn’t have successfully made it to the bath. “You could have died.” Kael added when Elara said nothing. “I am sure you would have been ecstatic because that is what you want. I don’t know what you are complaining about.” Elara said without looking at him. “No.” Elara turned just in time to catch Kael shaking his head. “I don’t want you dead because then you wouldn’t be serving the purpose for which I bought you and I would have to go back to your parents house and take your brother. And I don’t want that weakling serving me, so-” He shrugged. Elara nodded. “For a minute there, I did feel like you had a bit of conscience in you.” “You feared me when I came to your house. I remember you were shaking when you saw me, you begged your parents not to let me take you.” Elara swallowed thickly. “That was before I knew what awful being you are.” Kael pushed forward, opened the glass and walked into the tub section. He didn’t stop till the tip of his shoe tapped against the ceramic object then he bent over slightly till his face was a breath away from Elara. Elara tried to sink into the tub but he grabbed her by the throat and kept her face above the water. He ran his thumb softly along the length of her throat, causing Elara to visibly shiver. “What are you doing?” Her voice came out barely above a whisper as jasmine and rose scent wafted through his nose. That same scent he perceived the previous day. Kael closed his eyes and dragged in a deep breath. His thumb stopped caressing Elara’s neck as the scent intensified. As the scent got thicker, filling his head and making him fuzzy, his grip on Elara’s neck tightened. Elara’s hands shot out from the water and began clawing at Kael’s hand trying to free herself. “Alpha Kael,” she managed to croak out but Kael’s eyes were still shut and his head got fuzzier. The more she clawed the more the grip tightened. Her face turned beet red as her hand clawed weakly on Kael’s arm. She was out of breath and was losing power. Her eyes started closing but she fought herself to keep her eyes open as her hands sagged to her sides. Then, just as it came, Kael let go of her. Elara dragged in sharp, deep breaths as she coughed and rubbed her skin. Kael took some wide steps back, creating a safe distance between himself and Elara. “I’m so-” He gritted his teeth and held back the words from escaping his lips. He didn’t know what happened, he couldn’t tell what it was. All he knew was… “What is inside that water?” He wanted to run his fingers through his hair to clear out the confusion in his head but he kept his hands in a fist by his sides. “What?” Elara’s voice was gone. Her voice was barely a whisper. “What are you talking about?” “What did you put inside that water?” “Nothing!” Her voice didn’t hold the gravity she hoped for as she looked but at Kael who had turned into a mad man in her eyes. “I don’t know what you are talking about!” “Get out.” He ordered, charging towards her. “What? No way!” When she saw Kael wasn’t letting up as he charged towards her, quickly leapt out of the tub. Kael quickly folded his dress shirt sleeves to elbows, knelt on one knee beside the tub and dug his hands in the water and began searching it. That close, the water smelled like regular soap and mentholated balm. ‘It’s not the water, it’s her.’ Leoric said. Kael quickly looked up at her and Elara who had been lost in Kael’s theatrics quickly covered her breast with one arm as she immediately reached for her towel with the other and wrapped herself. Kael’s eyes trailed Elara’s body from her pink face to her curves down to her pale long, foam covered legs. Sighing deeply, without taking his eyes off Elara, he pushed up from the floor and began walking to her. Elara took some steps backwards in defense but her back came in contact with the cold, tiled wall and stopped her movements. “Please, stop. I beg you. I will never utter a word in your direction ever again, by the goddess’s name, I swear it. Please, I will be a good slave to you and every-” Elara gasped as Kael crowded her, stopping her rambling. She pressed her eyes shut and hid her face in both her arms with her face low to protect her neck but Kael tugged her hands away skillfully and grabbed her throat. Just as he did earlier, he ran his thumb on an area of her bruised skin. He inched closer to her, closing the space between them and bringing them both toe-to-toe, he then lowered his head and planted a kiss on her neck. Elara shivered at the contact. She tried to look at him but her neck only opened up more space for him. His lips lingered on her skin for a minute as he took a deep breath and exhaled against her bare, bruised skin. “Alpha Kael.” Elara whispered. “A word to anyone about this and I would have your head on a stake, by the goddess’s name, I swear it.” Elara forced down a spittle and she nodded as Kael let her go. She held her throat immediately and began soothing the bruised skin. Kael took some steps back. “Meet Brenda down stairs in thirty minutes. Don’t keep her waiting.” He said, then turned on his heels and walked out of the tub section. Elara remained fixed in that spot as she watched Kael walk out the glass door and then the bathroom door. Immediately the black door closed behind Kael, she rushed to it and bolted it shut.
