I was sprawled out on the couch, the worn cushions molded to the shape of my body. The TV blared with the bright colors and high-pitched voices of the usual morning cartoons. Amelia, usually teases me about my cartoon obsession. "Even when you get married and have kids, you'll still be glued to these shows," she'd say with a knowing smirk. And she wasn't wrong. Cartoons, movies, especially the ones with happy endings, it was my escape, my refuge from the harsh realities of life.
