Acceptance Letter

“One touch!” Heather shouted as she felt the ball meet her fingertips. Captain received the ball just in time passing it to our setter who looked over to me as she sets the ball from obvious form to do a feint to set the ball mid-air making it a clear path for me to spike. Accurate. That is one of the things that I could describe my best friend, Mariel, whenever she sets the ball to me. As if time slows down just as the ball hits the ground with the other team not being able to keep the ball up. 19-17. Fifth set. 3-2. We won. A week after the game we all got ready for the upcoming exams and will be celebrating our win right after. I will be tutoring my younger teammates including Mariel and Heather not wanting them to have a failing mark for missing some classes because of the game. Kristal gave them a practice test on each subject they have a low mark on individually. "Do I really have to?" Mariel mumbled; I nodded knowing her she is not great in math. "Aren't you going to review for the exams?" Heather asked, everyone turned towards my direction as I was taking my notes out to start reviewing as they answer their worksheets. Time passes when I started to get bored since everything in my notes is already in my head. Nobody noticed me getting up from their table as I walked towards a shelf full of novels and grab the one the caught my attention and base from its title the storyline has something to do with a mafia. Interesting; I thought as I brought the book back with me earning a disappointed look from my friends, "what? I already studied plus I got bored." She stated smiling. "That's not fair! You don't even pay attention in class." Mariel pouted, putting her pen down. "I don't look like it, but I still listen nonetheless." I shrugged. "Ahh, this is so like you." Heather chuckled as she continues answering. We left the library once everyone was done answering as well as finished checking and explaining to them the concept in which they got wrong , I gave them some tips to study efficiently since this is their last session of tutoring and my friends aren't part of the students I have to tutor they just decided to join so to be fair I gave them some test as well, just for fun on Heather's side with a not so happy Mariel next to her. I swear she needs a tutor for math like it is the subject that she has a low mark, making me worry about her more. Summer break is just around the corner and soon we will be in high school, time flies by so fast sometimes. I just hope that all three of us would be in the same school. I do not like being in an all-girls school anymore, well, it’s not because of the school but because of the girls here trying to get close to my older brothers whenever either of them picks me up for some reason and I do not like it. They are too noisy. Looking up the sky, the sun slowly going down and orange hue starts replacing the once blue sky. There are some people rushing to go home and some still spending time with their friends and going on dates, it is a Friday after all. I was not able to finish the book I was reading in the library, so I will stop by the bookstore tomorrow to buy the book instead. My friends were in front of me talking about our last game and they will not spot calling me “ace” even if I told them off a couple of times now. "How many times do I have to tell you guys to stop calling me that?" I scolded raising a brow "Now, now... Don't get too worked up on it" Mariel chuckled earning a glare from me and Heather laughing, amuse with the whole situation. "I wasn't supposed to be part of the team in the first place" Kristal said in a matter of fact. "Hush babe, you're born for this" said Heather earning a nod from Mariel. "Well... I was forced to join the team" I said glaring at Mariel. "Alright, if you say so! You know, either way you could've just left if you really hate the thought of being in the team" Heather pointed out. She has a point but if only she knew how Mariel tried to convince me into joining. “Ahh if only you knew how this little devil threatened me" I tilted my head to Mariel's direction. "But you still love me" Mariel chuckled. Not far from where we were previously I saw a familiar black Maserati and I wasn’t expecting my brother to pick us up today. They decided to have a sleepover at my place, it happens every time to the point they already have a few clothes in my closet. We got in the car and my brother being a gentleman that he is opened the door for them. "I thought you have a date today?" I asked as soon as he got in the car and putting his seatbelt on. "Oh! Who's the lucky girl Kris?" Mariel exclaimed leaning close at the front seat. "You have a girlfriend, right?" Heather then asked doing the same action as Mariel. "Ex-girlfriend." Kris corrected looking to his side to face us and I gave him a look to continue. "She cheated on me, so I broke it off." He said as he started the engine. He looks so calm for a person that just went through a break-up. I am worried about him keeping everything to himself, I just wish my brother could rely on me too. We arrived home in silence and was greeted by the trusted butler in the residence, Henry. Same things happen every day in this household since our little brother is at our grandparents for a while and so I am very grateful for my friends for staying with me. As we are walking towards my room Henry gave me a letter with a seal that I am very familiar with, I told my friends to go to my room first. I went to the study room to open the letter; Why am I suddenly feeling nervous? I thought as my heart was beating fast as I was reading the letter to the point, I didn’t even notice a tear slipped, tears of joy to be exact. I still could not believe that I got accepted to attend in Moon Academy. My friends walked in and took the letter from me and once they finished reading, they hugged me tight because once again we will be in the same school and the reason, I was so nervous was because I was the last one from the three of us to receive the letter, the kind of acceptance letter not everyone is lucky to have.
