Chapter Twenty-four. I woke up the next day to see him coming to the room with a tray. My eyes widened in shock, my jaw dropped to see him perform that act. “Wait… is that for me?” I asked as he dropped them beside me. “Yes”, he replied softly. But the way his eyes lingered on me for half a second longer than necessary said something else entirely. I swallowed, unsure what to do with that look. He straightened, slipping his hands into his pockets like he needed something to hold onto. “You should eat before it gets cold.” His tone was calm, but there was a distance in it… like he had already decided how far he was willing to go.
