Chapter Twenty
Lucas was in the bathroom when his phone wouldn't stop ringing.
I checked to see if the caller was coming from a lady.
I was about to divert my attention when he caught me.
He walked straight and picked up his phone, casting me a look.
“Hello Annabel”,
“Hello Lucas”,
The conversation lasted for almost an hour.
I could barely hear what the other lady was saying but he kept on talking and laughed at some point.
“Yeah…I am so glad to see you again…thanks to your company the conference wasn't so boring”,
My heart was pounding loudly.
What did he mean by that?
“Let's catch up some other time”, he said before the call ended.
I stood up, unable to stand the heat anymore.
Why was I bothered anyways? Whatever we have wasn't real.
He stopped me from moving
