Chapter Thirty-four.
The doctor checked him and, satisfied he was doing well, left.
I turned back to Lucas. The room was quiet again, filled only with the steady sound of the machines.
I was ready for what he wanted to say. But he didn't say anything.
I moved closer and held his hand.
“Lucas?” I whispered.
His fingers twitched slightly in mine.
“What do you mean?”, I asked to be sure of what he was saying.
But Lucas has already started sleeping. He didn't respond.
I covered his bedsheet properly before leaving him alone and rested my head on the edge of the bed.
When I woke up, I saw him staring at me. I swallowed hard as I realised how unorganised I can be.
