“What?” Caroline was confused. She was still stuck in the bathroom with him. His half naked sight was still causing her tension. Now he wanted her to remove his freaking towel!
“Remove my towel.” He explained. She gazed down at his towel and sighted the bulge. Her reluctance to start scared her. She placed her hands slowly on his towel and unrolled it. The look of his manhood shocked her. She knew they slept together in the past, but why was she never used to its sight. He collected the towel and placed it beside her, then he rested her on the wall and placed his lips towards her. His hands gripped hers tightly resting her on the wall.
“You know I am your husband, right?” He asked.
She nodded with tension.
“You know I am the father of your child, right? You know this was what got us together in the first place, right?”
Again she nodded. He noticed she was so tensed and was trying to catch her breath.
“Do you think I love you?” He asked staring into her eyes.
Her feelings overwhelmed her and almost choked her. Her face turned red and she felt so aroused. Without waiting for a response, he kissed her deeply in her lips and ran his hands down her body. She moaned and he liked it. He grabbed hold of her lotion bath cream and slowly ran it down her naked skin like she was a child. She looked a bit scared but trusted herself with him.
Andrew felt his heart race against his chest, and felt a bit of guilt for all he had done to her. He felt a bit of connection with her but hated the fact he felt it. He had no intention to getting drawn to her. He had no intention of developing feelings for her.
“Remember I am only doing this, because I am your husband. Don’t think about this in your sleep.” He warned her, before penetrating her when she was wet. She screamed with moans and he felt his body tremble. This time she wasn’t the one trembling with tension, he was when he drew her close and he couldn’t tell why.
That night he tried sleeping, but was awakened by the scent of her nice skin. He couldn’t forget how tense he was around her and how much he treated her softly, despite not having feelings for her. He couldn’t sleep. Her thought’s wouldn’t leave his head.
“Are you not sleeping?” She asked waking up due to his constant turning.
“I need a cup of water.” He confessed before walking out.
*CAROLINE POV*
Caroline woke up to the feeling of an empty space beside her. Her head hurt really badly and she could swear her morning migraine would drive her crazy. She sat up and stared at her phone for the time. It was 9:00am?! How long has she been freaking sleeping?
She got out of bed dragging her tired feet behind her and made her way down the stairs. Millie caught sight of her while she inspected another houseboy cleaning the small tables and smiled.
"How do you feel?" She asked, removing her focus from the boy.
"I feel okay. I just need some orange juice if that's okay with you." She requested.
"Orange juice when you haven't eaten, do not be silly! Come to the dining table. Andrew made himself some pasta but was unable to finish it. I guess you will be tasting his own meal for the first time."
Caroline reminisced the previous night and nodded with a blush. Of course it was her honor to judge the man of her dreams.
"Where is he by the way?" She asked to make herself comfortable on her seat.
"He is outside. You were so deep in sleep he couldn't wake you up."
"O! " Caroline exclaimed, admiring Andrew's neat dining set.
Millie brought a tray of the pasta and some orange juice she requested. When she tasted a bit of it, she felt like gagging.
"What's wrong?" Millie asked, as she almost vomited and covered her lips with her hands. Caroline couldn't believe how terrible the meal tasted.
"What?" She stared back at Millie.
"How is the meal? You don't like it?" Millie narrowed her brows.
"I have no idea what I have just eaten. This has lots of tumeric. I hate turmeric." Caroline almost threw up just at the thought of it. She took a drink of her orange juice and stood up. "I won't be killing myself and my child today…."
She turned her stare to the door and saw Andrew walking towards them. Maybe he was done with his business outside. When their eyes met, he avoided her gaze and stared at the meal.
"I see you've tasted my cooking." He told her with a bit of discomfort in his voice.
"Yes, em…. It's good. It's so good." She told him, walking her way towards the stairs and taking her drink.
"If it's good, why don't you finish it?" He asked. She stared at the meal trying to hide her disgust before turning to him.
"I will, soon….I just need some moments in the room, by myself." She tried excusing her way out of it.
"You think my food is trash. You can’t think of a good excuse to leave." Andrew frowned.
"No! Of course not. Your food is so good. You should be cooking more… "
"Then come here and finish it. We do not waste food."
Caroline couldn't believe he was forcing the meal on her. He offered her a stern look and waited for her to sit. She stared at the meal for a while, before taking the fork. With reluctance, she rolled the strand of pasta around the fork and placed it towards her mouth.
"Stop." Andrew stopped her as she placed the fork towards her mouth slowly. "Your mum told me you hated Turmeric. I wanted to see if you would eat the meal or not. Let go of the fork."
She was shocked at what he said.
" You knew I hated Turmeric? " She asked. " Why would you toil with my feelings like this? "
"Stop being overly dramatic now. I was just testing you…."
" Well you shouldn't have tested me because now you've made me look like a fool before Millie." She let out her frustration, turning to Millie. Millie wasn't even paying attention to them anymore. "... when she was still listening."
"Caroline, you can't be dramatic with everything."
Caroline hadn't listened. She forcefully ate the pasta she rolled in vengeance. Andrew was shocked. She rolled another.
"Caroline stop! You will hurt yourself." He held her hand in her attempt to take another.
"What do you care about me hurting myself when you do not care about my feelings? Sometimes I don't just understand you. Could you even see your face when you forced me to eat this pasta? I wasn't sure if it was the same you that held me…."
She stopped realizing she was speaking too much. Andrew felt embarrassed by what she was about to say next. He turned back to Millie who was still confused about what the two were fussing about. He held Caroline by the hand and drew her to the kitchen.
"You are one stubborn lady, aren't you?" He asked.
"No, I am not. I swear to you, Andrew." Caroline confessed. "But at times I do not understand who I fell in love with anymore.”
“You love me?” He scoffed nonchalantly. “What do you think this is? A fairy tale where people fall in love at the drop of a hat. You should know by now that I don’t welcome such emotions in me and do what I please.”
“So you do not love me then? That’s what you’re saying.” Tears flowed down her eyes. “The only person you ever loved was that Jenna. As long as I do not look like Jenna, you would never fall for me!”
“Be like her then. Change yourself into her. I know well that Jenna is way beyond the standard you will ever reach. Let’s see how you will be like her.” He challenged her closing the gap between them.
She was shocked at his response. She said that out of frustration but never meant it. She doesn’t know who this Jenna was for crying out loud.
“I only said that because she is the only female you talk about. You haven’t spoken about any other lady….”
“Because no any lady has captured my heart the way she did.” He informed her stopping at the door and staring back at her with his stunning eyes.
Caroline was done. She couldn’t keep talking anymore. She hugged herself and cleared her tears.
“Fine….” She informed him with a hiss. “Do whatever you please.”
She stared down at the floor not bothering to stare at him. What was the point anyway? The guy said his words. There was no going back anymore. He wasn’t leaving to her surprise. For the next few seconds he stood at the entrance staring at her as if in a thinking cap.
“Why do you cry easily?” He asked. “ Millie will think I made you cry. Could you stop crying when we have a simple conversation?”
“You are so cold!” She suckled with a frown before marching out of the kitchen up the stairs. Arriving at the room, she shut the door and sat in the bed with a hurt look.
“Why does he keep switching character? What type of guy is this?” She was unaware of what to believe anymore.
She stared around the room for a while and sighted an old box on top of his wardrobe. Curiously, she brought it down and opened it carefully. She saw nothing special other than some old childhood pictures of Andrew in diapers. He did look cute she must confess.
“It’s sad how a bright child grew up to be a scumbag. He doesn’t even value a woman’s emotions at all.” She thought to herself, picking up a pics of him hugging his mum tightly. His full hair and wide smile gripped her soul. He had very pretty eyes and radiant facial expressions. She couldn’t help but smile for a while and place her hands on her tommy.
“At least I will have a handsome son.” She said to herself. She couldn’t tell why she’d thought it was a male. The photograph was placed down and she caught sight of another hidden picture beneath the frames. It was the picture of a girl whose pony tails looked tidier than Caroline had ever done herself.
“Is this Jenna?” Caroline thought to herself staring at the 15 year old. She felt stupid for thinking deeply about it, having sighted a written note underneath the photograph.
“For Jenna Aiken.” It read.
The pencil drawing of Jenna didn’t give much detail of her features, but the artist tried in giving Caroline an insight. The poor lady twisted her nose in jealousy at the beauty.
“Of course, she’s beautiful. That’s why Andrew will argue with me over her.” She thought.
Suddenly her phone rang and she picked it up. It was Laura.
“Hey girl! Mum said to ask how you’re doing?” Her sister said as soon as the call was picked.
“I am doing fine, but I need your help Laura. You’ve helped me for the past few days. I need more.”
Laura didn’t mind.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“Andrew and I had a bit of argument regarding his exgirlfriend….” She began.
“O….” Laura exclaimed dryly.
“Yeah, and it scares me because I don’t understand why he would compare me to her.”
“Sis, Chill okay. That’s why you have me here. I am willing to help you with anything at all. What’s her name?” Laura asked. Caroline assumed she was getting her laptop ready for research.
“I think Jenna….” Caroline stared at the photograph one more time. “Yeah! Jenna Aiken.”
“Alright. Hold on, let me see if I will see an information about her.” Laura advised before the call went on a beep.
Caroline dropped her phone and stared at the photograph while she waited. Jenna does look like a living Barbie no doubt. She had a birthmark on her cheeks and looked smart. Maybe she was smart.
“Sis….” Laura’s voice came on the line.
“Yes, what did you find?” Caroline hadn’t picked her phone quicker than she did at that moment. The look of desperation was seen all over her face.
“The Jenna I see here is 23 years old. She is graduate of Harvard and currently running her own fashion gig. She has a birthmark on her nose, if that information will help….”
“Yes! That’s her. That’s definitely her!” Caroline cried out.
“She is an influencer, Caroline. From what I see, your husband follows her on his social media accounts. I think they are still in contact, Caroline.”
Caroline felt her palm get sweaty.
“No….”
“They are both influencers. What do you expect? They both have verified accounts here with a good number of followers.”
Caroline didn’t care about their fame. It had never been her business. What she worried about was the possibility Andrew still had a relationship with Jenna? He said himself that he hadn’t been in a serious relationship since he broke up with her.
“Andrew won’t do this to me. I know we don’t get along all the time, but he would never cheat with me with his ex. His parents clearly informed me he doesn’t see her anymore.”
“It seems you do not know men, Caroline.” Laura laughed. “They are scavengers. They search and get what attracts them. Men hate to lose, Caroline. If he really loved her then and they broke up due to some misunderstandings. There is a chance they’ve moved past it and got along.”
“No. Stop it, Laura. I am pregnant. You are making me scared…..”
“You better be scared now, so that you can know how to save yourself before it’s too late. I have a plan to help you attract him to yourself. If your husband wants class, then give him class.”
“What do you mean?”
“From what I see here, Jenna loves pink. She is known to wear a pink jumper suit, dye her hair blonde and apply some light makeup. Maybe if you surprise Andrew with that look, he will fall for you.”
“Won’t that mean pretending to be someone? He wouldn’t love me for me, Laura.”
“Quit dreaming sis! You told me he wants class. You aren’t classy. You could try by copying others he admires, right?”
Caroline was helpless to the choices she had. She agreed and stared back on Jenna’s pics.
“Seems I will need you in other to get close to my husband after all.”
