Episode 7: The Fruit Cage Traps the Beast Leader

553 Words
The Blood Beast warriors charge into the stadium, killing everyone in their path. The air fills with screams and the smell of blood. Chen Gu slams his hands on the ground, and thick earthen walls rise up, blocking the first wave of attackers. Chili breathes fire, burning three Blood Beasts to ashes in seconds. But there are just too many of them. The man from the hospital—Xiong Kui, the second-in-command of the Blood Beast Clan—pushes through the crowd, his eyes locked on Lin Xiaoman. "There you are, little elf," he growls, grinning maliciously. "This time, no one is going to save you." He lunges at her, his sword flashing in the sun. Lin Xiaoman snaps her fingers. All the fruit peels, pits, and seeds she's thrown on the ground suddenly come alive. Watermelon vines, banana trees, grape vines, and mango trees grow at an insane speed, forming a huge, impenetrable fruit cage around Xiong Kui. Xiong Kui slams his sword against the cage, but it doesn't even scratch the thick banana tree trunks. The grape vines wrap around his sword, pulling it out of his hand. "What the hell?!" he shouts, staring in disbelief. "Wood plants are supposed to be weak against blood energy! Why aren't they dying?!" Lin Xiaoman walks up to the cage, biting into a peach. "You forgot. I'm a pure-blood Fresh Fruit Elf. My plants feed on life force, not spiritual energy. Your blood energy just makes them stronger." She throws a handful of blueberries at him. The blueberries explode on impact, releasing a powerful paralyzing liquid. Xiong Kui's body goes stiff, and he can't move a muscle. "Now tell me," Lin Xiaoman says, her voice cold. "Who betrayed my clan a hundred years ago? Who gave you the map to our sacred land?" Xiong Kui spits at her. "I'll never tell you! You'll die before you find out!" Just then, two Sharp Metal Clan warriors sneak up behind Lin Xiaoman, their bodies turned into solid steel. They raise their metal claws and stab at her back, aiming for her heart. "Xiaoman! Watch out!" Chili screams. It's too late. The claws are inches away from her back. Lin Xiaoman doesn't even turn around. She holds up the half-eaten durian in her hand. Her durian armor instantly reappears, covering her entire back. CLANG! The metal claws hit the armor and shatter into pieces. The two Sharp Metal warriors stare at their broken hands in shock. Lin Xiaoman turns around and crunches a handful of mangosteen seeds. Thick, tough mangosteen shells wrap around the two warriors, trapping them inside. Sharp pineapple leaves grow out of the shells, piercing their skin. They scream in agony. But just then, the ground shakes violently. Thousands more Blood Beast warriors pour into the valley, as far as the eye can see. Chen Gu's face turns pale. "There's an army out there! We're completely surrounded!" Lin Xiaoman looks up at the sky, her expression serious. She reaches up and grabs the peach pit pendant around her neck. This is it. The moment her grandmother prepared her for. She takes a deep breath and crushes the pineapple in her hand. All her power flows into the peach pit pendant. It glows with a bright, blinding green light that shoots up into the sky.
