Tracy’s POV  "Please note that the way we as doctors calculate gestational age is by circling the date of a woman's last menstruation. I also asked your wife when your last menstruation was. The last date referred to is not the 7th day of menstruation, but rather the 1st day of menstrual blood coming out. I also determine gestational age not from the first day you are declared pregnant, but from the first day of your last menstruation. However, women's menstrual cycles are different. Not all women have a regular menstrual cycle of 28 days, the challenge is that the length of a woman's menstrual period can change from time to time. It lasts 2-7 days, and this condition means that ovulation can be a week earlier or later than the previous period. So that's a brief explanation I can give."
