Amelia’s gaze locked onto his emerald eyes, searching for an answer to her silent question. “I see you.” The words, so simple, yet so profound coming from him, echoed in her mind.
For years, she had perfected the art of disappearing, of being unnoticeable. Now, here was the most attention-grabbing man she’d ever met, telling her he saw her.
Truly saw her.
A shiver ran through her, not entirely from the cold punch. Sterling’s gaze softened, his intense expression shifting to one of concern. He gently squeezed her arm, which he was still holding before he lets go, as he puts on his shirt back despite the stench from the drink.
