CHAPTER 9 Amelia reluctantly climbed onto one of the high stools at the kitchen counter. Sterling smoothly took the one opposite her, placing a plate of food in front of her. The late-night cheat meal’s scent was enough to make her stomach grumble again, much to her annoyance. He seemed completely at ease as he began to eat, but Amelia ate in stiff silence, avoiding eye contact. She did not want her expression to betray her knowing that the meal he cooked was actually tasty.
