The candle cheered up listening to me. She blushed into a reddish flame, thus letting me know that my decision made her very happy. She eventually raised her eyes and started playing with her flame to make it just right for the night ahead and the work that was to come with it. She was obviously nervous, like a young girl on a first date who couldn’t help running around excitedly between the mirror and the hairdressers. In the meantime, I went back to my own thoughts: ”How shall I get hold of some paper, maybe even a new note-book? I had no money to order one and even if I did, the waiting-time would be just over two weeks. That’s how long it took for things from outside to reach us in there.
