Chapter 3- AWKWARD MOMENT

Have you ever been in that awkward moment situation? Well, in my state right now I could say yes, I’m in an awkward moment. Upon seeing him wearing a blue polo shirt my eyes felt like it will pop out of its sockets. Like OMG! Why is this happening to me? You want to know why it’s awkward, it’s because the guy in front of me is none other than the ever famous doctor of where I work, like what I said before other than singing I got a different passion and its taking care of people so I am a nurse as well. Doctor John Myers or what everyone calls him at work Doctor J was my classmate when I was still studying as a nurse and before he became the ever famous doctor he was once a nurse same as me, and to top it all off with this awkwardness him and I dated before but we it didn’t worked out and we just stayed good friends like super best friends, until he left to study being a doctor and lost contact with me, until me and Elli fled from the big city and found us a job at the hospital where we are right now, me as a nurse and Elli as a radiologist. Yes! Both I and Elli are in the medical field. I saw him again one day during rounds at the hospital, upon seeing me at that time it feels like he wanted to hug me or something but we kept things professional at the hospital, we haven’t even got time to talk and here we are in this awkward situation.

We already sat down on our seats and I just can’t look at him straight, my gaze is either at the window, the chandeliers or even at the spoons in front of me. Oh my goodness! Why Elli? Why? “Is everything alright?” he asked me with a worried look on his face. I look at him as if I got a whiplash and said in my awkwardest tone ever “Y-ye-ah Dr. Myers, everythings all good”. Nope, everything is not good this is so awkward. Did Elli know about this? Am I going to get fired if I dated one of our colleagues? My brain hurts from all of this! “Garry!?” I snapped out of my trance and look in a different direction as I hear someone calling me and to my realization it’s the person in front of me calling me in that name. I gave a tight smile at him. “I know this looks awkward to the both of us but don’t be too anxious Magpie it’s still me your MojojoJohn” I calmed a bit of what he said and just naturally smile. He still remembers, me calling him MojojoJohn and him calling me Magpie. It all started when I and John got so close that we keep on hanging out with Elli that is why he knew my name Garry because of Elli and well the magpie endearment? One day when we hang out a magpie bird swoop me off and both of them just laughs at me hence the word MojojoJohn because he destroyed my life for not helping me with the magpie bird attack and Elli? Well I just keep on pinching her that day. “Magpie!?” he snapped me out again, oh my gosh I need to stop this. I looked at him and he got that smug look on his face and I just gave him a straight face expression and put my tongue out, he just laughed at me. “Same old Magpie, have you eaten already? But the looks of this plates nope you haven’t, alright let us order then talked again.” Then I nod at him. I am really hungry already.

We didn’t talk for a while when we ate, but after our dinner he started to talk. “So Garry---“ I didn’t let him finish and told him “Margaret, Margaret Doctor John” he gave me a curious look like as if I got two heads then he realize at what I meant and asked again. “so ‘Margaret’” made quoting sign while he said my name “you agreed to this date? And as far as I know you don’t like dates especially blind dates” I just gave him a tight smile and said. “Actually it’s not me that suppose to be here but my dear old bestie who on the other hand set this thing up for me, even the booking its under my name.” I sighed. He just laughed “Typical Elli” and he just keeps on laughing. As he compose himself he then told me “Actually I’m not the one to be here tonight as well, it was Ace” My eyes go wide at him when he said that I was suppose to date Ace. Oh my goodness! No way! Ace is also in here? Ace is his best buddy during nursing school but Ace didn’t finished nursing school and took up something else. “Really? Ace? Does he even remember Elli or me? Like he should be because we hang out four of us all the time.” He shakes his head and said “I dont think he remembers both of you Elli. That idiot.” And I smiled from what he said, true Ace knows me as Garry and not Margaret and I don’t know why he didn’t remember Elli? That is so odd. Or maybe he did and they set me and John up? OMG! Those two!

We keep on talking for a while like it was old friends catching up with each other until the waitress came up to us and told us that the restaurant will be closing soon. Oh my goodness! We haven’t even noticed the time. Time flies so fast when you are having fun especially with the people you like hanging around. I really do have fun talking to John it’s like back in the old days where we just keep on annoying each other, bully either Ace or Elli, doing some assignments. Thanks to MojojoJohn the high spirited girl in me was awaken. “Magpie lets head out before the people here will kill us I can see in their eyes those dangerous death glares.” I giggled a bit and stood up, he asked if he could drive me home but I told him I drove here and he just nod his head, as we walk towards the parking lot his car parked beside my car what a coincidence. “Thanks for tonight Magpie! I really had a great time! And I will thank that i***t Ace for this” he smiled as he said that. “No! Thank you Doctor John! I really had a great time and it was pleasure to see you again and to talk to you like old times.” He looked at me as if he wants to say something but just brushed it off. “I’m going in my car now; see you tomorrow at the hospital Doctor John.” As I was about to head in my car John hugged me from behind, I froze, and he then whispered “How I missed you very much Garry!” we stood there for a couple of seconds until he let go off the hug and just looked at the ground, I turned to him, hugged him back and said “I missed you too MojojoJohn!” He looked at me and gave me his signature smug look. “I knew it! You can’t resist my charms ei!” I smacked his arm like what I keep on doing way back every time he said those remarks. We both laugh and just wave our goodbyes; we then went inside our own cars as I drove of the parking lot I had a biggest smile on my face, it felt like everything was just like old times until I realize something that made my face sour, I forgot to ask him why he stopped contacting me when he did his doctor studies? I brushed it off and maybe next time I am going to ask him, but for now I need to go home, shower, and sleep as I am going to work tomorrow.
