"Grandma" I said cheekily, also preparing myself for the next round of pep talk.
"What's soo cheerful about the day? Now get your ass off that office chair and meet Miss Bayes at the restaurant.
She's been waiting."
"But grandma-"
"No buts. I've had enough of your buts." She chirped in, angry.
I ran my hands through my hair in frustration, as I tried to look for words to refute her with.
"I'm sending her location to you now. Go to her or you can forget about this old woman." She ranted and the line went off.
My heavens, I hated blind dates. Fake ladies with heavy paintings who struggle to pick their food.
That's all I've encountered.
******
I waited for a few seconds for grandma to send the address, and sure she did, almost immediately.
Sky High Hotel. Room 54.
Ohh- that was just beside where I was.
I strolled leisurely out of the room I was, to the next two rooms by the left.
On entering the room, I saw the lady sitting impatiently.
Her sun-streaked golden hair dazzled, blowing the reflection at me.
Oh wow. For the first time in a very long time, I liked something. Her hair. It looked soft.
I walked towards her briskly. Even though I liked her hair, I needed to be done with this as fast as possible.
"Hello, Miss Bayes?" I asked, just to be sure she was the one.
"Hi" She answered, trying to sound as uninterested as possible.
She probably didn't want to be here also. I sighed inwardly.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, had some business to deal with."
"It's no hassle, I just reached as well."
She said, sarcastically.
A knock came in from outside and I figured it should be the waiter.
"Come in"
I was right, the waiter came in with some drinks and left shortly after his service.
"So, what do you do?" I was asked.
Oh- so I'm getting interviewed?
But really? Did she need to ask? Oh-she should have done a check.
Red flag.
I rolled my eyes and told her my name.
"Declan Shaw."
Ohh- her mouth made a complete round o, as she seemed shocked.
Oh-save me all that.
Her behaviour turned a whole 360, after she realized who I was.
"My God. I'm soo sorry. You are Mr Shaw?!"
She ranted non stop about how she would have added a touch to her makeup, if she knew I was her date-
Of course.
Beep.
My phone rang.
Oh what a nice save.
Even if the call was not going to be work related, I would make it one, I needed to exit the room. ASAP. Her niceness was suffocating. She was giving the usual normal blind date.
Not what I wanted.
"Mr Shaw" Mr Bridge sounded on the phone.
"Hi!
The contract?
I need to sign it?
Now? Okay, I'll be down right now!" I replied him, more enthusiastically than I would have replied anybody. Not because I liked him, oh- he was just another old man trying to leech off a young CEO like me.
But he was my lifesaver.
"Sorry, Miss Bayes, I have to go."
"Work?"
"Yes. I'll have my driver take you back."
Okay, I'm Pitha by the way"
"Ohh, nice to meet you." I said, stretching my hand for an handshake.
"Same here, Declan"
She smiled, heartily, and snuggled her hands in my hands.
I carefully withdrew my hands and kept them in my pockets, and moved towards the door, wordlessly.
My driver saw me outside and peeped inside to check whether the blonde was coming out with me.
"Drop her at her place."
I threw at him.
