I paced back and forth in my room, my mind racing with thoughts of how to explain everything to my mom. My thoughts were jumbled and restless, making it hard to think straight.
Just as I was trying to gather my thoughts, I heard a knock on the door. "Open the door right now!" my mom demanded.
I hesitated for a moment before opening the door. "Mom, please, I can explain-"
But she cut me off, her chest heaving dramatically. "Quickly! We need to leave now."
"What's going on?" I asked, feeling a surge of confusion through me. "Where are we going?"
Mom's expression was grim as she replied. "Jayden's been in an accident."
My heart skipped a beat, and I tried hard to control my emotions, which were about to knock me down to my knees.
