The journey

The doctor came out of the operating room few hours later. Jackie and the twins rushed to him.

“How is she doing doctor” Jackie asked looking frighten

“The operation was successful but due to the fact that she sustained a very severe head injury during the accident she is in coma right now and her chances of waking up are very slim but let hope she survives it” The doctor said. Flourish held the doctor's hand.

“Doctor no that is not possible Ella must wake up she can't just die like that she is a very strong girl she can't die” Flourish said crying profusely.Lilo walked towards the doctor .

“Can we see her now” he asked

“She would be moved to the intensive care unit very soon you can see her there” he replied

“Hey kids stop crying am sure she will be fine as you have said she is a strong girl and a fighter as well she will survive this so stop crying and be strong for her. Lilo console the twins deep down inside him he felt like he is about losing something very precious to him.

Few minutes later Ella was transferred to the ICU and they were allowed to see her but only two people were allowed at a time. Flourish and Jasmine entered together and saw Ella lieing on the bed with an oxygen gas passed to her mouth. She looked so innocent and pure how could this happen to her. Flourish walked towards her and held her hand sobbing quietly.

“Ella you have to walk up fast I don't even know how Alex will react to this when he finds out about you in coma. You have to be strong for yourself for Alex and for all of us we miss you so much” she muttered. Jasmine hugged her twin sister tightly and they cried together.

Few minutes later after crying and dried of tears they went out to let Jackie and Lilo inside. Lilo heart was pounding heavily as he saw the girl lieing on the bed helplessly, he came close to her and realized it was the girl he felt connected to at the restaurant he was shocked. He felt a sharp pain gushing through his heart he couldn't bear the pain of seeing her like that so he went out of the room leaving Jackie with her.

“You have to wake up please I can't carry the guilt of killing someone in my heart forever am sorry i didn't mean to hit you with the car and I hope you can forgive me” She said and left as well.

“Lilo my dad must not hear about this he is going to kill me he as a project to launch tommorow if this gets out it going to be chaotic” Jackie stammered. Lilo held her from falling and sat her down.

“Everything will be fine you don't have to worry about it my driver would drive you home I will sort out everything else just go home and get some rest” Lilo said staring at her.

“Are you sure” She asked and he nodded in agreement and lead her outside the hospital where the driver took her home. Lilo went back inside to sort out the kids.

Meanwhile Carlos and Alex were worried sick at home they finished watching the match a while ago but they weren't back yet.

“Uncle don't you think they should be back by now they had gone for almost three hours now” Alex asked looking very worried.

“I thought as much let me give them a call” he tried calling Ella's phone but it wasn't reachable the phone fell from her when the car ran her over.

“Her number is not good through am also starting to get worried maybe we should go and look for them down the street they may be chatting on there way back and forgot about the time” he said and they both went out in search for them.

Lilo walked towards the twins who were sitting on a chair close to the ICU.

“ hey kids you have to take me to your house so that I can explain everything to your parents and am sure you guys must be very tired by now” he said

“I can't leave Ella here” Flourish replied.

“I will come back and stay with her you can come check up on her tomorrow morning” he said convincing the twins and escorted them outside to his car.

They drove out of the hospital.

Carlos and Alex went down the street calling there names but no one answered.

Ella!

Jasmine!

Flourish!

Alex called out there name but no one replied they continued searching for them and asking people around if they saw them.

“Excuse me ma please did you see three girls passing through this road two are identical while the other one is tall and fair looks a little older than the rest.“ Carlos asked one of the woman selling food at the road side.

“Yes I saw them they passed some hours ago but I haven't seen them passing back” the woman replied. Carlos thanked the woman and they both quickly walked to the mall.

“So tell me how are you guys related to her”Lilo asked them while driving.

“ She is like a sister to us Dad brought her and her younger brother some months ago he found them when he was coming from his farm and decided to help them and since then we all have being living like one big happy family” Jasmine responded.

“Ooooh her name is Ella right I held when one of you were calling her name the other time”he said and they both nodded. Just then Jasmine saw her dad and Alex through the window.

“Dad ! Alex! “ Jasmine shouted their names and they both turned back. Lilo reversed back to them. Carlos and Alex quickly rushed to the car.

“what are you guys doing here and where is Ella” he asked as they both came out of the car. Before they could talk Lilo came out of the car and greeted Carlos.

“Good evening sir you must be there dad it nice meeting you” Lilo said stretching his hand. Carlos looked at him weirdly.

“Please who are you and how did my kids end up in your car and lastly where is Ella?“ He asked

Flourish and Jasmine started shivering at the sound of Ella's name.

“ My name is Lilo Lois”Everything is fine she got into an accident she is the hospital right now but the doctor says she will be fine you have nothing to worry about” he said. hearing this Alex rushed to Lilo and held him by his shirt.

“I don't understand what do you mean she is in hospital my sister is in the hospital and you are here. There is nobody with her take me to her right now” Alex shouted. Carlos tried to calm him down and asked Lilo to take them to the hospital.

Arriving at the hospital Alex rushed out of the car and ran inside the hospital.

“Where is my sister”? He screamed

“Calm down she is alright the operation was successful she will be conscious in no time” Lilo tries to calm him down.

The word operation made Alex almost ran mad. Carlos lead him to Ella's room.

Alex walked in and saw Ella lieing unconsciously on the bed with an oxygen tube passed to her mouth he couldn't hold his tears he started crying profusely and ran to her. Carlos walked to his side to comfort him he was also pained he now treats Ella like his own daughter he doesn't want to see her die he thought as tears ran down his eyes as well.

Lilo was also becoming emotional because of the whole drama and decided to step outside to get some fresh air.

After some time Carlos and the twins came out to meet Lilo.

“ Please how did the accident happened because I know Ella is very watchful” Carlos asked

“ I wasn't the one who hitted her with the car it was my childhood friend she ought to be here but she as not gotten over the shock from the accident so I asked her to go come and have some rest she would be here tomorrow morning. So she told me the brake of her car failed the time Ella was crossing the road and it was too sudden for her to warn the passerby of the situation of the car so it wasn't intentional sir”Lilo explained.

“What did the doctor say about her condition?”Carlos asked

“Hmm let me be honest with you the doctor said her chances of waking up are slim she as suffered a serious head injury but let just hope everything turns out well I only said she will be alright because I saw the young boy needed an assurance” hearing this, Carlos heart ached.

“I hope she wakes up because I don't think Alex can survive without her sister. He said and stares at him through the window”

“let me take you guys home am sure the kids must be tired” Lilo told Carlos.

“We can't leave her alone here”he replied

“You don't have to worry I will stay with her and am sure her brother wouldn't want to leave her eyes either” Lilo said

“Ok let me inform Alex I will be right back” he said and went back inside.

“Uncle you can go home I will stay her “ Alex said

“Are you sure you can stay here alone”he asked

“ Yes sir I can't just leave her alone here I have to stay with her “ he said and flourish and Jasmine came to hug him.

Alex escorted them outside the hospital and stares at Lilo weirdly.

“I will be back I just want to drop them off” Lilo said. The twins bid him goodbye and they drove off.

Few hours later Carlos came back to the hospital and met Alex sleeping next to Ella.

He walked towards them and stared at them they look so lovely and they don't look like someone who should be suffering at all.

He moved close to Ella and was tempted to touch her face she looks so innocent. His heart kept pumping fast at the sight of her. He moved her hands towards face but before he could touch her face Alex shaked his head while sleeping making him to restrict his hand. He couldn't take it anymore he quickly moved away from her and sat down on the chair beside them while staring at Ella. Few minutes later he slept off.

In the morning

Lilo opened his eyes the car and saw the doctor and nurses checking Ella's condition and giving her medications.

“Good morning doctor” he said stretching his body he as never slept on a chair before his body aches alot. He checked his phone and saw several missed calls from his parents and Jackie.

“Good morning Mr Lois how are you doing you look stressed” the doctor asked

“My night wasn't good at all my body aches alot so doctor that aside how is she doing? Is she improving?” He asked

“ I haven't seen any improvement yet but it not too late let put our hope in God am sure she would respond to treatment very soon” the doctor replied . Lilo was sad to hear this even though he doesn't know anything about the girl something in him doesn't want her to die”

“Ok doc” He said and the doctor left with the nurses. Just then Alex woke up and quickly grap Ella's hand wishing she was awake he was disappointed seeing she asn't woken up yet.

“Why isn't she waking up yet I thought you said she will wake up very soon” Alex asked turning to Lilo vengefully.

“Calm down it will take some days for her to wake up as you can see she isn't dead she will surely wake up so calm down and let wait for her to regain consciousness” Lilo tries to calm him down. Alex quietly sat down back staring at Ella as tears rolls down his face.

“ She can't die she is the only one I have left in this world I can't lose her” Alex said sobbing.

“She will be fine let me take you home to rest and eat you can come back later in the evening” Lilo said

“Ok sir thank you very much for your care I really appreciate everything you….“ Before he could finish his sentence Lilo's phone rang and he had to excuse himself.

“Give me a minute please, this call is really important” he said and went out to receive the call.

'Good morning Mom'

'Lilo where are you I and your father are worried sick about you we called your number you refuse to pick your calls your father is really mad at you'

' Mom there was an emergency and I had to attend to it I will be home in the evening tell Dad I will explain everything when I get back I love you mom' Before his mom could say anything he hanged up the phone.

“Hey boy let go what that your name again “ Lilo asked.

'Alex' he replied and they both head out of hospital. Some minutes later Lilo came back to the hospital and sat down next to Ella. Just then his phone rang, it was a call from Jackie.

“Good morning” Lilo said

“Have been calling your number since yesterday you weren't picking up I was so worried about you “

“ Am sorry about that it was really hectic yesterday I didn't even know when you called” he replied.

“Ok how is she doing any improvement?” she asked

“There isn't any improvement for now the doctors are still monitoring her condition” he said staring at Ella.

“Ooooh ok I hope she comes around because am really scared I will come by in the evening I have to go to the office this morning” she said

“Ok take care” he said and hanged up the call.

Lilo stares at Ella pitifully and held her hand gently his heart is shattered something in him keeps drawing him close to her.

“I don't know why am feeling like this toward you , it hurts really bad seeing you like this. This is not me I have never felt like this towards anybody , am not suppose to feel like this but I can't help myself I just can't get you off my mind please you have to get well soon even though I don't know exactly what is making me connected to you I still want you to stay alive so that I can get all the answers to my questions my spirit want you here” Lilo said caressing her hand.
