Breakthrough

After walking for sometime, they were both so tired and decided to rest in the small house they saw beside the road side, there was nobody in it.

“Am so tired and hungry , I don't think I will be able to walk any further if I don't eat anything”Alex told her looking very exhausted.

Knowing of Alex health condition he as a chronic ulcer she has to find something for him to eat, She quickly stood up .

“Am coming let me see if there is any canteen near by” she said and took the money she kept in the bag.

“Please be careful and come back soon” Alex managed to utter those few words.

Ella quickly walked away in search for food after some minutes of walking she came across a canteen.

“Excuse me ma ! please what type of food do you sell?” She asked the woman inside the shop.

“ We sell different dishes just name the one you want” She said

“Ok ma give me two plates of White rice, beef and a bottle of water” she replief

That 20$ is that fine by you she asked

“You can bring it ma”Ella said and the woman packed the food and gave it to her. She gave her the money and she rushed back to give Alex the food.

Alex noticed Ella from afar through the small window in the house and saw the nylon with her he was relieved, he was already having serious stomach ache and he knew this one due to his poor food intake.

“ Am so sorry am late I had to walk a few miles before I could get this food”Ella said at this time it was already getting dark.

Alex quickly collected the food from her and started eating hungrily. Ella took the other pack and ate slowly she as lost all her appetite.She hold the bracelet on her neck and tried to hold back her tears she remembered how Amelia put the bracelet round her neck she couldn't forget the hug and the words she said to her. After they finished eating Ella brought out a blacket from their bag and saw the envelope inside the bag.The room is so unkept with rat moving at every corner of the house she managed to spread the blacket at one side that looks a bit clean.

“Come and lie down Alex am sure you are very tired”she said as Alex lied down on the blacket and she lied beside him.

Ella brought out the envelope and wondering how the envelope got inside the bag, she checked the envelope and saw a letter and 200$ dollars inside the envelope, she was shocked to see that amount of money,she opened the letter.

“I am so sorry that I could not monitor and take care of you and Alex myself it just that business came up and I have to attend to it, I hope you will be able to endure your aunt saucy behavior still am back and I left some money for you in case you need it and don't hesitate to call me if there is any problem.i love you and Alex so much because you remind me of Sebastian , take care of yourself , Bye! From your uncle Sammy.”

Tears rolls down of Ella face as she placed the letter on her chest , hugging it tightly. She looked at Alex who was fast asleep, she pecked his forehead and finally she fell asleep.

“Wake up ! I don't know how you guys are comfortable sleeping inside this place” a thick voice echoed into their ears.

Ella and Alex quickly opened their eyes they were shivering with fear.

A tall man stood before them with a sack in his hand he was staring vigorously at them.

“You guys should find yourself lucky that I noticed you while passing by, this place you are is a very dangerous and deadly place so if you love your life you get the hell out of here”.immediately the man said that they quickly took their things and rushed outside behind him.

“Excuse sir, we don't have anywhere to go,we are completely stranded here”Ella muttered with a pitiful face.

“What are you guys looking for here , don't you have a family, that place you were is a place for kidnappers and human traffickers they bring there victims here every morning and before noon the buyer comes to take them away so if they had met you there you sure going to be in trouble”The man told them.

“Sir it a long story , if things had happened the way it should be me and my sister would never be here I can't even imagine myself in this kind of place but unfortunately this is what life offered us.” Alex told the man

Carlos stares at the kids and could not stop feeling pity for them they look so fragile and ignorant.

“Ok no problem , you can follow me to my place it a little bit far from here but it trekable, my name is Carlos by the way, am actually worked in posh oil company but during my free days I always come around here to monitor my farm lands”.

That name sounds really familiar to Ella , it like Sebastian as mentioned that name to her before but she couldn't really recall.

“Nice meeting you sir, my name is Ella and this is my younger brother Alex ”Ella introduced themselves to him.

After some hours of walking they arrived at his house, it was a portable apartment a bungalow to be precise it wasn't really attractive but it was ok.

He opened the door and two beautiful kids came to welcome him.

…….. Welcome dad!

they both said while hugging their dad.Ella recalled the wonderful moments she had with her dad.

“Guys this is Ella and Alex they will be staying with us for the time being treat them well”.Carlos told his kids who stares at them.

“Ok dad , nice meeting you my name is Jasmine and my twin sister here is flourish ” Jasmine said they both smiled at them and helped with their bags.

“Show them the guest room Jasmine and you flourish get me something to eat”Carlos ordered the girls. They both nodded .

“Come with me”Jasmine told them and they followed her to the guest room.

It wasn't a big room ,not attractive it nothing compared to their rooms at home but atleast they are not wandering on the street again.

“You should freshen up am sure you must be hungry we still have some food left you can come have some when you done”Jasmine said smiling at them Alex heart flustered a bit he couldn't help but smile broadly at her Ella noticed this and quickly replied her.

“Thank you very much we really appreciate.” Ella replied and she walked away.Ella quietly closed the door behind her.

“Alex what was that for why are you smiling at her like that”Ella asked him with a straight face.

“I don't understand can't I show my gratitude again it was just an harmless smile don't get yourself worked up because of that Ella I promise it not what you thinking”Alex said smiling at her.

“I hope so, Because I know you too well”Ella responded she knows Alex too well he is a good kid but once he likes someone he would do everything to get her she could remember how he beat up his classmate just because he was chatting with his crush”she shakes her head in disbelief and went ahead to take a shower.

After some minutes

Ella and Alex came to the sitting room and saw Carlos eating gently on the table.

“Your food is inside the kitchen , you can go and take it I sent both Jasmine and flourish on an errand they will be back soon” he said and Ella went to get the food while Alex waited for her in the sitting room.

“Thank you so much for your care sir we really appreciate”Alex shows his gratitude to Carlos.

“You are welcome when you done I need you guys to explain how you got to that place where I saw you but take your time am not going to rush you”he told Alex.

“Ok sir” Alex replied. Just then Ella came back with their food.After they were done eating they went back to there room to rest for a while.

Few hours later

Ella and Alex came back to the sitting room by this time the twins were back home, Carlos was still in the sitting room but this time he was reading news paper.

“So are you guys ready to tell me your story?” Carlos asked

Ella nodded and they both sitted.Carlos glaced at his twins and they immediately knew what he met they both disappear from the sitting room in a twinkle of an eye.

“So am all ears” Carlos said eager to know the kids story.

Ella signed and told Carlos how everything happened.

“But your uncle's wife must be really cruel to do that to you”Carlos said with a sign of anger in his tone.

“I wasn't really expecting anything good from her because she was always like that even when our parents were alive”Alex added.

“Well you guys are welcome here I don't have much it wasn't really easy taking care of my kids all by myself my wife dead of third stage blood cancer(leukemia) not quite long after giving birth to the twins they were just a year old when there mother died” he was closed to tears trying to fight it from pouring while telling them his story

“We are so sorry to hear that sir it must have being really hard raising such wonderful and beautiful kids.” Ella said trying to console him.

“Sure was , I really can't help you guys with your education but every other things I will take care of it”He told them genuinely.

“We are really grateful sir” Ella said happylily even though the fact that she and Alex wouldn't be able further their education is not going well on her but she is still very grateful to Carlos.

“I think I know of a place you can work Ella there is a restaurant not too far from here in need of waiter so I was thinking you might be interested” he asked

“I am very much interested sir and sir I have some money with me I want Alex to enroll back to college and finish his high school, I can pay his school fee with my salary” Ella told Carlos.

Carlos signed looking at Ella she is such a thoughtful child.

“No problem I can enroll him in a public school that where my kids attend you just have to pay his tution fee and some other materials he will need And it all affordable”he replied her. Ella nodded as Carlos called the twins out.

“Am going out I won't be back until evening take care of yourself and your friends”he told them and both nodded in unison.

“Take care of yourself guys and feel at home” He told Ella and Alex and he walked out of the house. Immediately Carlos went out alex turned to Ella with a sad face.

“Can I talk to you for a minute” he asked her, Ella nodded in agreement and he held her hand to the room.

“Ella tell me why on Earth will you make sure a big decision without informing me you want me to go to school while you work your ass off does that make any sense Alex said angrily he was about to cry. Ella stood up and hugged him tightly.

“It fine Alex you didn't force me to do that it was a willful act and you are my only brother I love you so much I want the best for you and I also promised mom to always take care of you so let just say am fulfilling my promise to mom”she said as tears rolls down her face.

“Thank you so much Ella I love you so much you are really the best”Alex said emotionally they shared some minutes together bonding they later went back to have a chat with the twins.

“We are so sorry for leaving you alone guys I just had to steal her for some minutes”Alex told them with a smile on his face.

“You didn't tell me you have started stealing”Ella responded and they all laughed.

“It fine guys we totally understand so I guess we should try and know each other better”Jasmine said. With the look of things Jasmine seems to be the talkative, Flourish looks very reserved and calm.

“So Ella let start from you tell us about yourself” Flourish added.

Ella signed and introduced herself to them

“ Ok my name is Ella martins , am 18years old , am really very gentle and nice to be with ,I just finished high school this year God willing I still wish to go to the university some day, and as you both know this is my younger brother Alex our parents died few weeks ago in a fatal car accident and we had to live with our uncle but unfortunately his wife doesn't like us so she kicked us out in our uncle's absence so while wandering around your dad saw us and decided to bring us here guys there is nothing much to say about me am just this kind of boring person you see”Ella said not knowing what to say again. Everybody laughed at Ella last statement.

“You not boring to me , you look like someone who would be very funny , it your turn now Alex.”Jasmine said.

“My name is Alex , am 16 years old , am very jovial and you guys will really enjoy my company”Alex said and wincked at Jasmine.She blushed .

I am going to skin this boy alive was he just flirting with Jasmine or am I not seeing properly Ella thought.

“You guys should tell us about yourself”Ella asked them.Jasmine decided to go first.

“my name is Jasmine am 15 years old am really very friendly but I can be naughty sometimes our mom died when we were just one year old according to my dad so all our lives we have being a daddy's girl and seriously I love my dad so much but sometimes I wish mom was here with us don't let me get too emotional flourish take over ” Jasmine said emotionally.

“ Ok guys am flourish by name obviously am the same age as Jasmine , am kind of reserved but free with people am close with am not really that friendly but am trying am getting there” she said and they all laughed.

They all spent the evening together getting to know each and watching tv.
