When Stefan left the meeting with King Gavin, he spotted Midnight, Jayhan, and Sasha playing marbles around a circle they had drawn in the middle of The Way Through. Normally, a thoroughfare would not be an ideal place to play but there was no traffic at all on The Way Through, so they were quite safe. He thought Sasha looked strained.
He wandered over and knelt down next to Midnight who, as the current leader, had the most marbles. Midnight smiled at him and good-naturedly offered him a handful of marbles so he could join in.
“Thanks” he said and proceeded to show a degree of skill only rivalled by Midnight.
As Stefan’s marble cracked one of Sasha’s last marbles out of the ring, she asked tensely, “So what’s happening? What did Gavin decide?”
