Chapter1--The bond

608 Words
ADHD is a mental condition that impacts the human brain. In Lyra’s case, despite being a werewolf, this was true. As she moved through the forest, her paws pressed into the moist ground, her instincts heightened. The full moon loomed above, bathing the trees in a silvery light. She could sense the transformation beginning, her body undergoing a change. Out of nowhere, a distant cry pierced the stillness of the woods. Lyra’s ears perked up, and she instinctively followed the sound to a nearby clearing. There, she found a human named Axel, trapped in a mudslide, his legs ensnared and arms thrashing helplessly. Without a moment’s thought, Lyra leaped into action. Utilizing her extraordinary strength, she dug her claws into the earth and pulled Axel free from the mud. As she did, she felt her control waning, her wolf instincts surging forward. At last, Axel was liberated, gasping for air. Lyra, still in her wolf form, loomed over him, her heart pounding. They locked eyes for a brief moment, and Lyra sensed an unexpected connection between them. Axel’s eyes widened as he took in Lyra’s wolf form. Yet, rather than fear, a sense of calm washed over him. He reached out a tentative hand, and Lyra allowed him to stroke her fur. The following morning, Axel returned to the woods, eager to express his gratitude to his enigmatic rescuer. He discovered Lyra in her human form, standing outside her cabin, her gaze cast downward. She looked up, startled, as Axel approached. For a moment, they simply gazed at one another. Lyra’s expression was cautious, but Axel’s warm smile eased her tension. “Thank you,” he said earnestly. “I owe you my life.” Lyra shrugged, averting her gaze. “You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. However, Axel’s persistent kindness and genuine curiosity gradually broke down Lyra’s walls. As they conversed, she found herself sharing thoughts and feelings she never imagined revealing. As days went by, Axel felt an irresistible pull to the woods, captivated by Lyra’s quiet strength and unique spirit. Lyra, too, began to anticipate his visits. One afternoon, while wandering through the forest, Lyra lost her footing and stumbled. Axel quickly reached out, his hands encircling her waist. They paused for a moment, their bodies close together, and Lyra felt her heart race as Axel gazed into her eyes. Despite her instincts urging her to pull away, Axel’s gentle grip calmed her nerves. A flicker of attraction ignited within her, yet the fear of being rejected and abandoned held her back from embracing it. Noticing her unease, Axel took a step back but continued to hold her gaze. “I’m not going anywhere, Lyra,” he said softly. “I’m here for you.” In her mind, Lyra began to wonder if she could trust him, whispering to herself, “Maybe, just maybe.” As the full moon drew near, her anxiety intensified. She attempted to push Axel away, terrified of losing control during her transformation. Yet, Axel remained steadfast, refusing to leave her side. On the night of the full moon, as her body began to change, Axel held her close, his soothing voice guiding her through the process. For the first time, Lyra felt a sense of peace during her transformation, comforted by Axel’s presence. Afterward, she found herself in his arms, her human form trembling. Axel embraced her tightly, his eyes radiating love. “You’re beautiful, Lyra,” he whispered. “In every form.” Lyra’s heart swelled with warmth, her fears dissipating. Perhaps, just perhaps, she had found someone who could see past her ADHD and werewolf challenges.
