CHAPTER 4

Ava

It's been a year since I started working at Wembley's Technical company and it has been awesome, my payment is high and I was able to get an apartment and enroll Starr who's now four years old in school.

I was doing the dishes in the kitchen and Starr was in the kitchen with me, he loves hanging around me and always wants to help me out with what I'm doing.

"Mum, let me help you" He offered and I grinned.

"No, Sweetheart, I don't want you to get wet."

"I won't get wet, please let me do it for you" He pouted, it's one of the methods he uses whenever he wants something from me.

"I'm almost done, you will do it another time," I said to him and he nodded his head happily.

The doorbell rang, "don't worry, I will get the door" He said to me and headed towards the door.

"Don't bang the door if it happens to be Ray"

"I can't promise you that" He replied and I grinned, he's obedient but can be quite stubborn especially when it comes to what he likes and dislikes.

Ray is a friend of mine who I bumped into at a shopping mall a few months ago, we exchanged contacts and since then we've been in touch with other and he always visits us.

I was surprised when he proposed to me and I told him I would like to give it a thought, I was thinking of getting married to him because I feel like Starr needs a father figure in his life, he hasn't experienced what it means to have a father in the house and I feel for him.

"It's Auntie Tasha!" He yelled and hugged her happily and she lifted him, she always visits us, and most time she spends the weekend at our house.

I received an email from the office saying that a new CEO will be coming in after the weekend, the CEO has decided to hand over the company to his son and I was relieved, I hoped he would be better than his father.

"Wake up, sleepy head, it's time to get ready for school". I said as I removed the blanket which he used to cover his body.

"I don't want to go, my teacher is so annoying," He said grumpily and covered himself back with the blanket.

"No, sweetie, you have to go to school, I will talk to your teacher" I assured.

One thing that stressed me every morning was getting Starr ready for school, I was able to make him get up from the bed, and I watched him as he got into the bathroom ready to take his bath. I always drop him off at school before heading to the office.

Luckily for me, he hurried his breakfast and within some minutes we were ready to leave.

"Come on, sweetie. The new CEO is coming in today and I don't want to be late".

"The new CEO?".

"Yes sweetie, come on, we need to catch a taxi" I grabbed his hand and both of us left the house.

I got to the office and everywhere was so quiet, it wasn't as lively as it used to be and I didn't see people going to get coffee in pairs while chatting and laughing.

I saw my colleague who was running Helter Skelter trying to arrange some documents and I grabbed her hand.

"What's going on, where's everyone?".

"The new CEO came in today and he summoned everyone to the board room".

My heart was beating so fast as I headed towards the board room, I walked into the room and sat down quietly beside a colleague.

"Late coming will not be tolerated anymore!" A hoarse voice said and that was when my eyes met my worst nightmare, the man that took my virginity five years ago.

He was dressed in a black suit and his hair was well styled, he wore a golden wristwatch and his face was cold.

My heart sank deep and I could feel my legs trembling, I twitched my fingers trying to control my anxiety and hide how nervous I was, he was the last person I was expecting to see, I thought he had disappeared from the earth, how in god's name did he happen to be Mr Wembley's son.

I tried so hard to avoid meeting his gaze, I didn't want him to remember me, It was going to make working with him so awkward and I couldn't let him find out about my son! Never!.

Ahem... he cleared his throat before he started addressing us,

"My name is Jace Wembley and from today I will assume the position of the CEO, I will be making new rules and if it doesn't go well with you, kindly submit a neat Resignation letter without typical errors in my office. I hope I won't t have to fire anyone" His voice thundered and he shot a cold stare at everyone.

His dreamy blue eyes were glossy and I could still remember how they stared at me that night, I could still remember his warm lips pressed against mine and the way his mouth worked on my body, everything that transpired between us that night was still fresh in my head and everything I felt were still lingering in me.

I quickly snapped out of my fantasies, I hated myself for thinking so horny but I can't help it because that man was sitting across from me in the same room. He fixed his gaze at me and that made me wonder what was going on in his head.

"Follow me to my office!" He pointed his finger at me before leaving the board room and I shivered.

"What's going on?, Did he happen to remember me?" I asked myself without getting any answers.

I adjusted my skirt before going into his office. With a fixed gaze, he asked me a question that made me gasp in fear.

"Where have you been all this while?"
