CHAPTER 23 April 16, 1812 Palace of Versailles The Palace of Versailles was one of the most imposing residences that a king could obtain. Its watering holes were the favorite place of the queen of England. That morning, as was her habit since her return to her husband, she was walking by the lake on the estate, her mind elsewhere. It had been two days since Hiden and they had been living as guests. The owners had been hypnotized by the house, which she found beautiful from the start compared to the gloomy castle in Nottingham.
