While I was overseas, Liam Parker seemed to have fallen for Arlene Young, the daughter of the woman who drove my mother to her death.
I looked at the two people sitting at the table next to us.
Ronald Carter said something with a blank expression on his face, and Arlene covered her mouth, laughing so hard her whole body shook.
Liam looked furious. "A man like that only has a good face and knows how to sweet-talk people. Once a girl gets together with him, he'll show his true colors. Guys like him are experts at pretending. He isn't even with Arlene yet, and he's already making her laugh. Who knows what he'll become once they're actually together?"
I felt helpless.
Where exactly did he see Ronald trying to make Arlene happy?
"Delia, you're my closest female friend. Please help me seduce him. I just need you to keep him away from Arlene."
I went silent for a moment and stared at him. A wave of pain crashed through my heart.
Even Liam seemed to realize he had gone too far.
After all, in his eyes, Ronald was nowhere near good enough for Arlene.
"Just make Arlene misunderstand. Please."
Ronald came from a powerful family. He was tall, handsome, and had everything a woman could want.
If someone wanted to get married, a man like him would be a pretty good choice.
I smiled faintly, bitterness filling my chest.
"Sure."
