Comfortable
Rather than go any further with her narrative, decided not to push it. Not because she didn’t want Hamm to know anything more about her past life, but because she just didn’t want to dredge up those memories at this moment. There would be plenty of time to tell him all she cared to share about herself.
They traveled for a couple hundred miles in relative silence. Every so often Hamm would comment about something he saw. Otherwise they listened to her favorite classic rock station on satellite, and the occasional course correction from the map app on her phone.
