After the near disaster of Thanksgiving, things got easier. Despite the many hours of studying and tears we faced over final exams, we all managed to pass. Mel had it the worst as she missed more school than Lilah or I had all semester.
We developed a routine quickly, and it was easy to settle right in. Mel’s dads took mercy on us. The first time we dropped her off to stay with them, Azeron only needed to see the sad look in her eyes for all of ten seconds before he begrudgingly agreed to let us stay as well. We quickly ran into a logistical problem on her small bed, so we came to a new agreement of dinner two nights a week with them instead of staying over one.
