All species have a natural curiosity, a drive to figure out the workings of the world. Some species, those we consider to have higher intelligence in particular, explore beyond the ‘how’ of things to uncover the ‘why.’ Why? It’s such an important question, but the quest to find the answer is often fruitless. Highly intelligent beings tend to rationalize their why with religion. They look to a higher power – someone or something they believe to be stronger and more knowledgeable than they are in their current form. They believe that these higher powers have a plan for the world, and their manipulation of such gives us fate. Fate. To an ant, a human is a deity. Bigger. Stronger. Longer lives. Higher power.
