LEO After I fed her birthday cake, Sol let me hold her as we sat quietly above the waterfall. I sat her between my legs and held her in my arms freely for the first time. I never wanted to move. It was perfect. We didn’t talk. She didn’t need to, and I let her lead for now. Occasionally, tears would slip from her eyes. I’d wipe them away and hold her tighter. It was simple and peaceful. And somehow, we both needed it. When the clouds rolled in around lunchtime, I took her home. We spent the rest of the day doing much of the same.
