SOL Leo didn’t show up at the elementary school with lunch for me again for the rest of the week or the whole following week. I dodged Missy’s phone calls with excuses of needing to mow the grass and other domestic responsibilities. While they were mostly valid reasons, I was avoiding talking about Leo. Every night, our two interactions played through my head, mingling with the unattainable fantasies of what a happy family with Leo would look like.
