FREYA “Ma’am, you have not just one fetus in your womb.” I raised my head as those words hit my ears. It had been four months since I fled from Jaxton’s crib, and he had not come looking for me, or, maybe he did but couldn’t find me, because I found my way into the most remote area of the new town, I tossed myself into. I was lying on the bed, and the nurse was running her stuff on my belly, which was being displayed on the screen of the machine in by the side. What did she mean I don’t have just one fetus in my womb? Do I have something else in there? “What do you mean by that?” I posed. I wasn’t sure the nurse was right, and by the way, I never really believed the clinic would be any good, because there are no doctors here. But I had no choice. I was doing my best to avoid going to the city because I fear being seen and fished out by Jaxton’s men. I fear being grabbed and ferried back to that demon’s crib. I relaxed on the bed, waiting for her response as she continued running the stuff she was holding on my oiled tommy. “Ma’am, you are having sextuplets.” Did I just hear that? I’m having six kids for that git! Good lord, this can’t be. I thought I was having one, but they are six. I raised my eyebrows and looked closer to the screen to see the six creatures in my womb. I couldn’t see them well, maybe because I was still too shocked to believe she was right. “Look.” She said and pointed at them. “They are six. You are such a wonder.” She said with a smile. Well, she knows nothing about their father, that’s why she had that smile on her face. Had she been in my shoes, I bet she would have no reason to smile a bit, not to talk of making it broad. “You don’t mean it.” I rested once more. A part of me was glad that I was having six kids at a time, but a part of me was sad because their father, to me, is a damn flop. He believes I’m nothing but a w***e that was leased out to him for the satisfaction of his s****l cravings. I enjoyed s*x with him though, but the fact that I sometimes get dragged into the red room and get tortured is a damn reason to hate him. “Are they in good health?” I asked. I guess that’s the kind of question a mother should ask. Especially my kind of mother who wants to do everything possible to keep her kids away from their father. Yes, I would keep them away from Jaxton. Far away from that butthole. “Of course, they are good in your body.” She said with a smile. “We’ve not had such in a long while now. You are a miracle.” I smiled. She is the only one who had so far bothered to speak good about me. Every other person sees me as something unpretty, and they always wish to take advantage of me, but she just made me feel happy. Well, what brought the praise were the babies in my womb. They are a bunch of good luck, but I fear the life ahead would be tough for me. I would have to provide myself every moral support needed to keep them at the right path, take good care of them, and keep them away from Jaxton forever. “Thanks.” ………………………………………….. My new home in the new remote neighborhood was not far from the hospital. It’s just a stone throw, likewise every other home in the neighborhood. None was far from the other, and none was far from the hospital. And, one good thing about the neighborhood is the fact that it is so small that everyone knows his or her neighbors from the first to the last, and kids here are collectively raised by the adults in the neighborhood. Yeah, I like the collective raising of kids here. I wouldn’t have issues raising mine when I have them. “Hey, what news do you bring us?” It was Joe, the elderly man I share his house with him and his wife. They don’t have kids, so, when I came to them from the city and asked to live with them, they took me in as their daughter. “Are we having boys here or girls?” said his wife, Lana. They had been arguing over whether I would have a baby girl or a boy, that was how the idea of going to check out in the hospital was birthed. I smiled and sat in between them. That was how I usually did whenever I was with them at the balcony, to avoid being teased of taking sides. The old couples were far better than my father who sold me off to raise some goddamn money for his debt to the casino. “Guess what.” I said with a smile. “You are having a baby boy.” Joe said, his face lit with excitement. “No, it’s a girl.” His wife countered. “Okay, you both are right, because I’m having sextuplet.” They paused and looked at me the way people look at strangers. Maybe I was talking silly. They were still debating over who would win the bet between them both, and I broke the news of having sextuplet. “You mean you have six?” Lana posed with her eyebrows raised. I shook my head. Sextuplets are not common among humans. It’s only common among dogs and pigs, and I just broke a record with the announcement. “You don’t mean it.” There was excitement in Joe’s voice. I had literally become their daughter by staying at their place, and my kids, when I would have them, would naturally become their grand kids. At least, for the first time in my life, I found myself in the midst of those who love me, not those who only wants to take advantage of my foxy body. “Yes, I mean it.”
