CHAPTER 33 Jason walked into Wilson’s house as his maid let him in later that night. Janet walked up to him, wrapping her arms around him. Jason made sure to rinse his mouth before he walked in. “I was so worried about you. Are you ok?” Jason hugged his sister back tightly. “Yes, I’m fine. I didn’t get butt r***d if that’s what you’re asking.” He joked half laughing. Janet hit him in his chest. “Don’t joke like that Jason. You know Dan is looking for you by the way. He called Wilson furious he couldn’t contact you.”
Jason then remembered. “Oh, right I got a new number. I didn’t bother to give it to Dan. I am certain I would hear from him sooner or later. I don’t want to deal with him at the moment though.” He placed a bag down on the couch as they walked into the modern living room. “Where is Wilson?” Janet sat Indian style on the rug. “He went out, probably to meet some woman.” Then Wilson walked in. “Oh no Janet, there isn’t any woman out there for me.”
He went to hug Jason. “Jason I can’t believe you got arrested. What the f**k happened?” “They found Abagail at the Sanders building and of course I was the main suspect until Officer McGee confessed to seeing her last. There was a camera that showed my innocence.” Janet covered her mouth. “Oh my God Jason we were just there for the Christmas party, how was she discovered?”
“She was found on the tenth floor by the cleaning crew.” Wilson ran a shaky hand through his hair as Jason explained the whole situation. “f**k Jason. This s**t is insane. Have you talked to Dan about it yet?” Jason shook his head. “Does he know I’m crashing here until my home is cleared?” Wilson shook his head then. “He will find out sooner or later, but you need to talk to him.” Jason nodded, knowing Wilson was right but didn’t want to deal with Dan and his s**t at the moment.
“I haven’t been here in awhile. I like what you’ve done with the place.” He complimented. “It’s been years since we’ve been here right, Janet?” Janet nodded. “That’s why he is our father and not that scumbag Dan. You have always been there for us Wilson. When we had nowhere else to go.” Janet kissed Wilson on his cheeks hugging him lovingly. “It was the least I could do since your father was having a hard time dealing with your mother’s death. He took it rather hard and couldn’t raise you guys. As his best friend, I stepped in.”
Everyone paused in deep thought about their mother until Wilson grabbed Jason’s bag. “Come on I kept your room the same.” He gestured for Jason to follow him to the room upstairs. Jason followed him, staring at the pictures of him and Janet on the wall. He stopped at one smiling at the memory of them when they were kids “Your mother took that picture. You had just poured cold water down her back while she was dry on the sand. You were mad because she wouldn’t go swimming with you.” Wilson explained, smiling as Jason laughed.
“That’s because Janet is a coward and couldn’t take a little water.” He yelled out so his sister could hear him. “f**k you, Jason.” She screamed back, causing him to laugh harder. Wilson opened the door to Jason’s old room. “Tell me if you need anything,” Wilson replied, hitting Jason’s shoulder. “Oh before I forget, I’m cooking Christmas dinner. Since you’re already here you might as well join me.” Jason nodded sure. “Coming up Saturday right?” Wilson nodded as he closed the door.
Jason sighed looking around the old room he hadn’t been to since he was a teenager. Wilson really did take them in before Dan wrapped them under his finger and forced s*x work upon him. Dan came to visit them several times and most times they would go over to Dan’s apartment for the visits, but they always came back home with Wilson. It was sad to have someone who was a complete stranger to them; a non-blood relative took care of them. Jason received a text message breaking him out of memory lane as he reached thinking it was Alyssa, but it said Melissa instead.
“We need to talk.” The text message read. Jason sighed annoyed. “I can meet you at the bar in thirty minutes.” Jason texted back that he will be there as he grabbed his car keys from off the table. “I’m going out.” He called out. “Already? I thought you just came from seeing Alyssa. Booty call already?” She teased, sipping on her cocoa. Jason shook his head. “No. It’s Melissa actually.” Janet placed her cup down with a frown. “You can’t go with that psycho b***h, Jason.” She objected. “I need answers, Janet.”
“Well, I’m going with you.” Jason quickly objected. “I don’t need a babysitter Jan.” He held her arms while she reached for the door. “It’s not for you, it’s for Alyssa. Plus you can’t hit a woman. If this b***h gets out of line I will f**k her up for f*****g with my family.” She grabbed her coat not taking no for an answer. “Now let’s go.” Jason rolled his eyes annoyed but walked out the door with his sister to meet Melissa.
Melissa fidgeted with her drink when they walked up, she was surprised to see Janet with Jason. “Janet? I was expecting you…” Janet hit her hands on the table. “Save it bitch.” Jason held Janet back and tried to get her to calm down. Melissa placed her arms on the table. “Why did you text me this late in the night, Melissa?” He asked, equally upset at her for what he knows. “Please sit.” Melissa gestured for them to sit down as they pulled out their chair.
“What is this about Melissa?” her hands began to shake as she reached for her glass of water. “I don’t have much time. Dan has a tight hold on me.” Jason and Janet looked at each other. “What did Dan do to you?” Janet asked, still feeling no sympathy for her. “I’m with child.” Jason's eyes shot up surprised. “What? By Dan?” Melissa nodded. “f**k,” Jason screamed. “Well, no wonder Dan has a tight hold on you. He is holding that baby over your head isn’t he?” Janet didn’t even seem phased by the f**k s**t Melissa was bringing them.
“Is that why you are covering his murder?” Jason turned to Janet, with her accusing eyes showing Melissa no mercy. “What?” Melissa looked up shocked at Janet. “What do you think I’ve done?”
“Someone changed the cleaning schedule so Wesley and his crew never went to the tenth floor. I know you were at the fashion show and you met up with Abagail before she disappeared.” Melissa’s face stilled in defeat. “I got invited by Dan. I did see Abagail, but I didn’t know she was going to be there. She was arguing with her husband I just asked her if she was ok.”
“And what about the cleaning crew? Who gave them the schedule?” Janet interrogated, not believing a single word that came out of Melissa’s mouth. “I don’t know. I didn’t change it.” Jason folded his arms. “Well, who did? Are you telling me someone hacked into your computer to change the schedule? Stop bullshitting me, Melissa. You are the only one who has access.” Melissa began to shed tears. “I didn’t I swear. Jason I would never want to hurt you in any way.”
“b***h, please. You dare say those words while being pregnant by Dan. You are a liar. There is no way we believe you.” Janet replied, taking the words right out of Jason’s mouth. He picked up where she left off. “We are in this predicament because you chose to f**k Dan in the first place. I saw Diamond.” Melissa almost hyperventilated. “You talked to her?” Jason nodded. “You and Dan have been lying for the longest. You never told me she was paralyzed. How could I ever believe you care about me Melissa when you’ve done nothing but lie?”
More tears fell down her eyes. “I do love you, Jason.” She reached for his hands, but he jerked away. “Melissa you were right. We are f****d, but you have taken above and beyond to please Dan and now you have his baby inside of you…” he stood then. “I just can’t deal with this s**t right now.” He stood up angry, but Melissa stood with him grabbing his hand. “Please, Jason. I’m carrying your brother or sister. Dan will kill me if he…”
“That is your problem,” Jason yelled back, jerking away. “No Jason, please. I’m sorry.” Janet slapped her hand away. “Don’t try to ask for redemption after you lay with the devil.” She said the last words as they walked off together. On the drive back Janet continued to fuss. “I can’t believe she is pregnant by that evil son of a bitch.” She buckled her seat belt with anger. “Calm down Jan. It isn’t that surprising.”
“Why isn’t it?”
“They have been messing around for years. Sooner or later Dan would place his slimy c*m in her.” He replied, unphased now that he was on his way home. “Jason, Dan is proving to be a liar time and time again. I think we should go to the Voodoo princess tomorrow and get some answers.” Jason nodded agreeing.
“Janet?” he turned to his sister with seriousness in his voice. “Do you think Dan killed Abagail?” There was a moment of silence. “He has the motive. What if he thought Abagail told the cop the truth about Diamond? He has a motive.” Jason was starting to convince himself that maybe Dan was the mastermind of it all, but why would Dan ruin his own dream. The business was his life. There was no way Dan would ruin the only thing he cared about. Right?
