CHAPTER 30 He quickly saw the video and cursed. “Shit.” Jason stood ready to attack him if he was uncuffed, as the table moved as he reached for him. “You killed Abagail you son of a b***h!” Officer McGee looked busted. “What the f**k was you doing at this fashion show, Officer McGee?” Fairchild walked up to him with anger. “Not only are you the last person caught on camera with Abagail, you went to question Miss Sampson on your own without permission. What the hell is wrong with you?”
Officer McGee pointed at Jason. “I had to ask Abagail about what happened to my sister because of him. He is the cause of all of this.” Jason’s face squinted in curiosity. “Who is your sister?” Officer McGee walked up to Jason with hostility causing Officer Williamson to come in to detain him. He handcuffed McGee to the table and released Jason. “Don’t release him. He’s still guilty.” McGee whined. “Who is your sister?” Jason asked again in his face this time. “Diamond Terrell.” Jason folded his arms then. “Aww, I see.”
“You know her?” Fairchild asked as the story was unfolding more and more secrets. “Yes. She’s currently suing the company for the injuries she suffered while attending my office.” McGee winced at injuries. “She is in a f*****g wheelchair!” he yelled. “You talk about her like she hurt her knee or elbow or something. You pushed her down a flight of stairs.”
“Is that what she told you?” Jason asked, arms still folded. “Regardless of that, what does that have to do with this case?” Fairchild asked, sitting on the table. “Why did you kill Abagail?” She released the results of the DNA prints to show it was indeed McGee’s skin. “I didn’t kill her ok. Just continue to watch the tape.” Jason and Fairchild glanced at each other then she pressed play to see McGee questioning Abagail causing her to run off the camera’s view. “See?”
“That doesn’t prove s**t. You inserted yourself into this case wanting me to be the murderer just makes yourself looks worse. This is in no way helping Diamond’s case.” Jason replied, pacing the floor. “I attacked her ok, but I didn’t kill her! And you f*****g stay away from my sister!” McGee wriggled trying to break free to attack Jason. “Stop this Michael. You’re making yourself look guiltier.” Officer Williamson chimed in. “You didn’t run after her for more answers?” Fairchild just wanted to get back on the subject at hand.
“No,” McGee replied. “Did you see anyone else run after her?” She continued. “No,” McGee replied, with an attitude this time. “I think he is lying,” Jason said turning the tables on McGee this time. They stared deadly at each other. “He would have to find a key inside the building unless he was working with someone,” Fairchild spoke with reason. “He could’ve stolen it or gotten someone else’s key. It wouldn’t have been hard. He has the motive and the hate for what he believes I did to his sister.” Jason explained. “I’ve done nothing but tell the truth. What have you told McGee? Nothing but lies. You withheld important information just to make me a criminal when you knew I was gone before Abagail had gotten kidnapped.”
“You still could’ve came back and taken her afterward. Maybe you became afraid of what she told me and got angry and killed her.” Jason laughed wanting to punch the living daylights out of him but restrained himself. “I just want the truth, Officer McGee and so should you,” Jason replied, unfolding his arms. Ross walked in then to see the scene confused. “What the hell is going on in here? I thought you were being held for interrogation.” He said, closing the door firmly behind him. “What took you so long?” Jason asked him. “I was caught in court with another case. What happened?”
“They found Abagail’s body on the tenth floor of my building in the closet. We have evidence I left and her attacker was none other than Officer McGee here who illegally questioned Alyssa without authorization.” Ross placed down his briefcase. “Evidence? What evidence?” Jason pointed towards the DVD player showing McGee. “There was a security camera across the street. That caught everything leading up to Abagail’s abduction.”
“And you are in the clear?” Jason nodded. “Then you have no reason to hold my client anymore.” Ross grabbed Jason’s arm as he walked out the room as Fairchild sighed with frustration. Just when they thought they had the case closed, more questions than answers appeared. Jason whispered close to Ross’s ear. “I think Melissa has something to do with it.” He said unsure but determined to find out. “Melissa why?”
“Someone changed the cleaning schedule so that the tenth floor will be skipped. She was either working for the killer or she is the killer. I think Officer McGee and her could be in the works together.” Ross nodded gathering all the information he could. “Because of the lawsuit, right?” Jason nodded. “I need to get to the bottom of it.” Ross grabbed his arm, bringing him back. “You need to lay low for a while. Go get out of the country for a couple of weeks with your woman.”
“I can arrange that, but it will have to be after Christmas... Wouldn’t it look suspicious if I run like that though?” Ross shrugged. “It’s just a suggestion from your friend, not your lawyer.” “Thanks, but I think I will take my chances and help with the investigation. I am innocent after all.” He walked out of the police station with Ross as he gave him a ride back to the Sanders building. Policemen were still scanning for prints and evidence. “You sure you want to be here? Can you go somewhere else for awhile?” Ross asked, looking at the scene. “I can get a hotel room for a couple weeks until this dies down. How long you think it will take them?”
Ross shrugged as they walked in. “Depends on them.” He replied. An officer walked right up to them. “I need some stuff from my house. Just escort me there.” Jason told the officer as he nodded. “How long do you think you guys will be scanning for prints and evidence?” The officer shrugged. “Could take a couple of weeks.” Jason nodded pressing the button to his penthouse. “Dan will not like your work not being done by then.” Jason laughed with every bone in his body, not caring about Dan.
“Well, that’s fine by me. I think after all of this I needed a break anyways.” Ross agreed as the door opened to his penthouse. He gathered his things and texted Alyssa he was on the way back to her to tell her everything.
