The Birds

Chapter Eight It was morning. I have no work at the bakery since Mr. Rafael said we could have two days off. So, I decided...why not explore the wilderness? I know it's dangerous for a girl to explore the forest alone. Furthermore, I am not from here, so the probability of being lost is a hundred percent possible. But I need to explore, perhaps I could discover something in the forest. It's presumably selfish and reckless, but if I want to get answers, I need to take action, for I am certain, despite the quietness of Stone Cove, there's something mysterious hidden in this village. I lied to Papi that I am going to the beach, wearing a long dark brown hood and a basket, with some stuff in it like water, food and so on, in case I might need it. And honestly, I literally looked like little red riding hood in this get-up, except mine is dark brown. I started my journey. I think I passed fifteen blocks before I finally bailed the village. And just like Hansel and Gretel did, every path I passed, I tied branches with a string, so I could find my way back. The village is already out of my sight. And to be honest, I didn't feel any fear. In fact, I feel more comfortable and safer in the forest. Another odd thing about me. I came up to this huge tree with so many purple flowers on the ground. I walked towards it, rested a bit and grabbed my water inside the basket and had a sip. The distance is tiring, but the ambiance in this place isn't. I picked a flower and smelled it, and its appearance was undeniably pretty. This will surely look good on the table at home. So, I picked a couple and put them in my basket. Then out of nowhere, a little bird flew around me while making a sweet sound, as if it was trying to communicate with me. I smiled at it. "Hi there!" I said while raising my index finger on my right hand, and unexpectedly it did sit on my finger. It was joyfully singing like he wanted to impress me. "You're so adorable, you want some water?" And after I said that he twirled twice, so I think he agreed. I grabbed my water once again, put a little water on the lid and handed it towards it. A moment later, a group of birds suddenly showed up and surrounded me while they made their sweet sounds. I roamed my eyes, and it's really hard to believe that this...is actually happening! This moment feels so magical. I gracefully twirled like a princess, and my smile never vanished. Then suddenly, the birds merge and a woman's figure appeared. I just stood there, bewildered by the scene. I stared at it for almost a minute, and it slowly disappeared. The birds flew in the sky after that. I was still standing there, pondering about the emotion I felt at that moment. It left me an easing presence I cannot understand.
