Roar

The trip was almost done, according to the GPS in the pickup they had only ten kilos to go, the whole way Genevieve had her eyes scanning for any type of carnivore she could find, but strangely they found none. "f**k! Nothing!" She said sitting back. "A blessing" Bison said. "No! Geez Bison where's your sense of adventure! Come on!" Genevieve asked. "Woman! I told you brothers don't survive in a dinosaur movie! On top of that I don't even have a f*****g gun!" "Don't worry Marine, I'll protect you ok?" "That's exactly what I'm worried about! I can't depend on a redneck ex navy seal gun ho gunslinger girl to protect my ass! I'm gonna die!" Genevieve laughed loudly, even Arno couldn't help it. "Don't laugh with her Sauce! You'll give her a big head!" "You can borrow one of my guns Bison" Arno said. "No no, oh no I'm happy with not having one really, guns are loud! And they attract attention! If the first of you lot shoot I'm outa here!" "I wonder, since zhis place is still not up and running, technically no one has hunted here before, zhese dinosaurs never heard she noise of a gun, you think zhat Trex will beat trail once it hears a gunshot?" Helga asked, her eyes never left the jungle the whole way. "Wishful thinking Helga!" Genevieve laughed again, Arno could see that alcohol she was taking started doing it's trick. "As much as I want to agree with Helga, as much as that would be a brilliant thing, Trex doesn't have anything that hunts it so it probably won't beat trail at the sound of a gunshot, in fact I think it might even pickle it's curiosity, and make it come investigate... It's not called the Tyrant king lizard for nothing" Arno said nervously, but then realised he over spoke and looked at Genevieve, she smiled at him sheepishly and placed her hand on the SAW next to her. "You i***t don't tell her s**t like that Sauce!" Bison yelled grabbing Genevieve's arm but already the barrel was out the window and it roared away, the ejected cartridges bounced all over the inside of the pickup making Arno flinch at every one, he and no choice but to stop. "Mother fucker! Genevieve are you trying to get us killed!?" Bison yelled finally getting her to stop firing. The shots ran like thunder into the distance and somewhere else there was clear bellows and trumpets of animals, the crash and c***k of jungle foliage being destroyed by large animals also clearly audible, the four sat tensed up listening to the noises, then after a short while it died down into the distance. "Fok! You're the craziest fokkin woman I've ever met!" Arno said squirming with his hand down the top of his vest and finally managed to dig out the one cartridge that went down his shirt, he threw it out of the window and shook his hand "Fok! I almost crapped myself! Those things are hot!" "Ssh!" Helga said and they died down again, even holding their breath somewhat. Arno looked out the window, there was no sound or movement, but it's best not to stick around incase there was a Trex in the area. "I'm going" "f**k! Are these T-rexes p*****s or what!?" Genevieve said as they drove off. "I don't care what you call it, it's bigger than us, and it's nasty" Bison said. "Oh boo hoo, are you afraid Marine?" "Woman! Do something that will comprise the safety of this unit again! And I'll knock you the f**k out!" He said loudly at her glaring face. She looked forward stubbornly "Fine, I'm sorry" Arno sighed, they must have a guardian angel or something, Bison was right about one thing, when dinosaurs are involved there never really is a good ending, sure they escaped, but there where still people that got eaten! They came around a bend and down the road the fueling station stuck just out of the tree line, Arno stopped the pickup. "What's wrong?" Genevieve asked. He turned to her so he could basically see the three in the car "I'll say something, I need to get it off my chest, I'll admit I'm not a soldier, I thought to myself I can man up and walk next to you guys, but, I am just a stupid fokkin mall cop, and I don't want to be a hinder to this team, I don't want anyone to get killed" He scanned the faces of the three. "So, now approaching this garage, take point, I wasn't appointed as the leader remember? Tell me what I must do so I can be more effective" Genevieve frowned at him, then looked at Bison and Helga "Well, glad you admitted that" She said and gave his shoulder a pat again "Don't worry mall cop, we'll look after you ok?" "Thanks, so how do we approach this garage?" Genevieve looked back at Bison "Leader?" He smiled "Ok, since I'm the only one without a gun, I'll take charge of the refueling, the three of you set up a five meter perimeter around the vehicle, got it?" "Yes sir" Arno said and drove off, they slowly approached the fueling station, it seemed new, but hasn't been used in a very long time, nature started taking over again, the walls almost grown over in creepers, the roots of trees lifted the concrete slabs surrounding the pumps, even the pumps seems to lose paint and rust. "Pop the petrol cap Arno" "Got it" He said drawing the lever. When it all seemed quiet Arno drew the pickup in next to the gas pumps and switched the engine off. The ambient of the jungle now filtered into the vehicle. "Let's go" Bison said and the lot jumped out, Helga and Arno had their weapons aimed and took a knee not far from the pickup, Genevieve climbed on top of the frame of the pickup and stood ready with the machine gun, Bison looked up at her, she winked at him. "Good idea, way to take the initiative seal" Arno kept his breathing under control, his eyes focused on the jungle, he swore to himself, if anything moved it was going to eat the full brunt of his magazine. "Tometo sause" Helga said not far from him, he kinda liked how she said it. "Yeah?" Arno asked looking at her, she had a sweet smile on her face. "Well done" Arno felt shy and looked down his sights again "Thanks legionnaire, you know you make good leader material as well" He heard her give a giggle "No, I'm as good at following orders as you are" "Fok, that's about the best attribute I have" "Don't say zhat, you have a lot of good attributes" She answered. "Hey! You two stop making small talk and focus on the jungle" Genevieve said. Helga gave her a cheeky glance "What's wrong madamozelle Genevive? You jealous zhat I'm making small talk with your boyfriend?" "N! No!" "Zhen let us talk" Genevieve heard Bison chuckle. "Shutup Bison!" "Oh come on Genevieve! You two do really look like a married couple, geez you can't stop arguing!" "That's because the asshole's native special forces got me busted!" "That's not a valid reason to f**k him up? Didn't you say earlier you're happy Jade got you busted?" Genevieve snorted "Yea yea" She looked at the jungle again but caught Arno looking at her, he then looked in front of him quickly. "Hey! What I tell you about looking at me!?" "I wasn't looking at you! I was looking at your gun!" She gave the weapon a glance "That's bullshit mall cop!" The entire atmosphere was broken by the roar of something big in the distance, Arno felt his soul leave him, it sounded exactly like the movies made it to sound! "Mother fucker! Was that what I think it was!?" Bison yelled being overly happy that the tank was full at that specific moment. "What was that!?" Genevieve yelled. "Ssh! Not so loud!" Helga said. Bison came around the pickup as if expecting to see it "It sounded like a f*****g Tyrannosaur!" "What's a f*****g Tyrannosaur!?" Genevieve said in a loud hiss. "Trex!" He hissed back. Genevieve got a smile "Lemme get my fifty cal!" "No! We're not here to hunt Genevieve! We have a mission!" Bison said heading back to the Pickup "Get in! Let's go!" "Wait! I suggest we hunker down here! Zhat pickup will make too much noise now!" Helga said, her eyes still out in the direction of the roar. "That sounds like the best idea, I want to be as little and as quiet as fokkin possible" Arno said backing to the truck. "Ok then, everyone into the gas station" Bison said opening the back of the pickup and grabbing a few bags. They all moved quickly to the gas station shop and entered, inside they went and hid behind counters and tables. They remained there silently, then slowly but surely, the thumps came closer, until they felt the vibrations of the heavy animal's treads under their feet.
