As a result of the titanic forces applied on the mantle of the earth under the African plate, about 11 to 7 million years ago, the crust of the earth would split in the eastern part of the African continent, along a line extending from the Red Sea to present-day Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Mozambique. Along that ridge, great geological changes were going on and a huge crevice opened up while tall continental ridges were raised in the eastern part of Africa. That sequence of tectonic changes impacted on the environment even more, by creating a wave-like rift on the surface of the earth extending from the north to the south which today is known as the Great Rift at present-day Rift Valley, which tended to cut off the African plate along its eastern side. The final result was to inc
