1.12. The Number

My eyes instantly close up at the contact and before I know it, I'm kissing him back. It's fire, desperation, anger, need and want; all in one at the same time. His lips move desperately against mine as I feel his hands cupping my cheeks to pull me even closer if possible. I try to catch up with him while tugging at the lapels of his tux jacket as one of my other hands tug at his hair to pull him closer. It's like I'm a deserter who has been in need of water for days before finally reaching its destination, water. A thirst which just keeps on increasing as we r****h each other's lips. His teeth pulls at my lower lip and I release something between a moan and a whimper which is probably result of all the sensations that are going through my body. God, why have I been avoiding him, again? That's when I knew all logic has left me. But who gave a damn when it felt so good. Until a voice whispered in my head... "No, not her. It's you. She can only dress you up, she can't change your face, your light, Jesse" I don't know when or what happened after that, I just remember pushing Clinton away and running from that place as soon as possible; Clinton's voice calling out for me which I gave no heed. *** Somehow in my mad dash, I found the restroom. I did my business, made myself presentable without thinking about what I did just a few seconds ago. And also ended up finding my way back to the place where the gala was actually taking place. The moment I end up finding the gala, I roam for a few seconds like a lost puppy. Unfortunately, I can't go back to Jason just yet, especially when I can still feel Clinton's lips on mine. So I make my way to the only other person I can relax in the presence of or rant too. That being, Liza. Surprisingly, she has made herself invisible to the human eye as well. Just what I needed. I look outside in the hallway for her, thinking maybe she might be there. And guess what, I hear some faint, familiar giggling and moans coming off at the far end of the hallway; a little too dark and hidden from sight. What in the world... I trail off in my head as I come to the sight of a raven haired girl and surprise, Liza. I cup my mouth from letting out a gasp at the sight of them drunkenly fooling around and kissing each other. "Liza", I hiss from my place. As soon as they hear my voice, they jump apart like repulsed ends of a magnet. "What the heck?", Liza exclaims before shaking her head as if to get a clearer sense of her senses. I pinch the bridge of my nose as the raven haired poor girl looks from me to Liza; not knowing what to do. I always knew Liza was bisexual but I never thought her desires and wild thoughts would make her do this, that too drunk. To say I was disappointed, would be an understatement. Sure she did stuff like that in college but now? "Hey babe, where were you? I was looking for you", Liza smiles her drunk, free smile at me, having had noticed my presence now. She stumbles while making her way to me and practically slumps on me, swinging her arms around my neck, clinging to me. "Oh, you know what?", she lifts her head from my shoulder and smiles at me goofily with her eyes drooped down. I raise my brows at her in question, trying my best to return her smile but it turns into a grimace instead. I look behind her at the raven haired girl who by the looks of it, might be about to cry. Oh god, no. "I got her number", Liza whispers in my ear before giggling like a maniac and slumping back onto me. "Oh yeah? Let's get you out of here then. Excuse me? Could you please help me carry her to the front?", I ask the raven haired girl, who looked way more in her senses now. Surprisingly though, she ends up glaring at me and stomping off back to the gala. What the... Nevermind. Somehow I end up calling George to the front with Liza still on me. As soon as he looks at Liza's state, he rushes over to me and helps me get her in the car. As I'm putting Liza in the car and pulling back from the door, I hear the gravel crunching behind me and I turn around to find a half-mid-stop run Jason who's panting a little from his run. "Jason?", I unintelligiblely blurt out, not knowing what to say. "Where were you? I've been looking for you everywhere. Well not everywhere but you know what I mean", he says before peaking behind me at the open door of the car and the sight of Liza passed out inside of it. "What happened?", He questions, confused and concerned at the same time. "She got drunk is what happened. Gosh, I'm tired", I vaguely say the last statement before a yawn escapes me. Jason eyes me for a moment and I look at him, hoping he doesn't catch me red-handed lying but it's partially true so I'm not exactly lying; I'm tired. "You know what, I'm tired too. Let's go home", he shrugs before ushering me in the car. And just like that, the night was over. *** "Morning", I pipe as I saunter around my kitchen. I hear Liza sit on the bar stool and groan before replying me with a lousy morning herself. "How was your date?", I tease her around as I venture for a cup of coffee. I hear her yawn before replying. "Oh you know, same old. The guy was all over me", she chuckles to herself before slumping on my breakfast bar and whining about a mild headache. I smile to myself before taking out an advil that I most specifically kept for Jason and Liza. "Guy or a girl?", I tauntingly ask her as I place a glass of water and the advil in front of her. "A girl? No, I'm sure it was a guy", she strains her brain for a few seconds. "I'm pretty sure I caught you with a girl in the hallway", I throw it out casually. It's silent. No sound for a minute or two before... "Ugh! Not again", Liza groans loudly. I chuckle at that. "It's okay, you know. I remember you telling me how you got her number", I tease again before laughing out loud when I hear another groan from her. "Can you guys not? Some people are trying to sleep here", a third voice invades from behind the couch. Until I actually see the source of it. I gulp down the lump in my throat, looking away immediately and shrug. God, he's shirtless on my couch. His hair a mess, eyes are drowsy and yet he looks like a wet dream, like come on Jason. Can you not shine in my eyes for a day? That's all I ask for but nope. Not gonna happen. I turn around to place a cup of coffee for Liza when she gives me the pointed look and I look behind her only for my throat to become dry again. Until Liza clears up her throat, I don't even realize I'm gaping at Jason's sleepy form which is right now just off the couch while he yawns softly and rubs at his eyes then runs a hand through his luscious curls only to mess them up even more. Christ, I'm in so much trouble honestly. "Yeah right. I'm gonna head for work now. See you guys, later", I yell while making a mad-dash for the door. "What about your unfinished coffee?", Liza yells back. Oh dammnit. "Jason can have the rest of it", I yell for the last time before slamming the door behind me in a haste out of the apartment. Then I remember something and make a U-turn immediately. I stick my head through the door before calling out to Liza one last time. "You're needed in the office, Liza. Make it as soon as possible. Bye" Which is obviously followed by a huge clatter of something and then a groan. I hold in my chuckle and head out.
