"Where are we going?" I consider Lucas' offer, leaning forward as well and he gives me a big smile.
“Anywhere you want to go, Mandy," Lucas smiles and I am tempted but again, it's only my first day in London and boys are not what this trip is about.
“Sorry, this is a girls' trip," I emphasize the word 'girls' as I get up. “And I'm not going anywhere without my girls." I give him one last smile before I join my girls out on the dance floor. Jackie detaches herself from Cadence to greet me with open arms. I look back at Lucas to see him shaking his head after me but he's smiling too. He finishes his drink and joins us.
We dance for a while before the bar gets too crowded and as a now large group, we all decide to walk the streets of London until we come across a new bar. We decide to bar-hop a few more times and by the fifth one, half of the group is beginning to stumble, myself included. There's talk of finding another bar but our group doesn't look like it would make it there. The bartender sets a row of drinks on the bar and I'm about to protest but Lucas steps in.
“It's just water," Lucas smiles at me and tosses the drink back, and makes a face pretending it's something stronger. I sniff the glass in front of me and it seems to be water, I take a sip to be sure then chug the whole glass. Everybody else grabs a glass as well and we try to formulate a game plan.
“I've had way too much fun and way too much to drink. Y'all, I think it's time to go home," Margot's Tennessee accent comes out stronger when she's drunk. “Well, not home 'home' but back to the Airbnb," Margot continues and I chuckle. She also is very chatty when drunk, even more so than usual.
“Yeah, I agree. It's time to head back," I loop my arm through Jackie's and pull her away from Cadence's embrace. They've been hanging off each other all night. He seems like a decent guy though.
“You guys should come back with us!" Jackie announces and I try to stifle my groan. It must have slipped out because Lucas gives me an amused look. Jackie's outburst causes some pub patrons to look over at us. Lucas ducks his head before shooting a look at Cadence. Cadence looks around the pub and tosses more than enough bills on the bar and starts ushering us out the door. No one else seems to notice how odd it is but I do.
“Ooo, so are y'all coming back with us?" Margot bats her eyelashes at them and then she looks at me for approval. I have reservations about the idea.
“I'm game," Liam says and Alfonso nods his agreement.
“If that's alright with you, Mandy?" Lucas turns to look at me and I see the rest of the group wants this so I nod and Jackie cheers. She jumps on Cadence's back and they take off down the street.
“Wait!" I shout after them, laughing at their reaction. We all chase after them, stumbling and laughing on the way.
Eventually, we make it back to our Airbnb and it takes a couple of tries but I get the door open. Alfonso and Liam crash on the couch as soon as we get through the door, and within minutes both of them are snoring quite loudly. It looks like both of them struck out with Natalie and Margot but I see Cadence and Jackie making eyes at each other.
“Margot can crash with me and you can take her room," Natalie winks at Jackie who giggles, and then she looks at me. “Then you all can be alone as well."
“Natalie," I start but she yawns and waves goodnight to me. The snoring on the couch grows louder when the other two doors are shut. I sigh and turn to my room with Lucas following behind me.
“So the other girls get their own room but you and Jackie are sharing? Why's that?" Lucas asks as he enters my room. I can tell he's taking in the room but he won't learn anything about me. This is only a rental, and most of the items spewed around the room are Jackie's items, not mine.
“Jackie's my best friend," I offer as an answer. “Most of our upcoming rentals aren't as luxurious as this one so we didn't mind sharing, especially with all the other space here. And most importantly, we aren't in the room for very long, only to sleep."
“Those are good reasons," Lucas pushes his way further into the room and takes a seat on the queen-sized bed.
“No, no," I say and gesture for him to stand up. “Out," I point to the door and Lucas stands up.
“Come on, the couch in the living room is taken and I don't really want to share a room with our friends who are clearly going to hook up tonight," Lucas tries to reason with me. His accent, just like Margot's, is even stronger when drunk. He takes my silence as me beginning to give in and he smiles at me. It's a cocky smile and I roll my eyes much to his disappointment. “And I doubt the girls would let me join them."
“Oh I don't know about that," I say and Lucas raises his eyebrows in interest but he doesn't move. “We just met. But," I protest and drop a blanket and an extra pillow on the floor in front of him, “you can stay on the floor. The carpet in here is probably much comfier than the hardwood floor in the living room. So, I think I am being quite generous here." I smile a sassy smile and he grins back at me.
“Very generous," Lucas says and before I can stop him, he starts fumbling with his belt and then drops his jeans to the floor.
“Uhm, not that generous," I say and take a step back. He looks up at me and has the decency to blush. He looks even cuter when his cheeks turn pink.
“Oh sorry, I don't like to sleep in jeans…" Lucas trails off with his awkward excuse but I understand and agree with him.
“It's fine, just, nothing else comes off, okay?"
Lucas puts his hands up in surrender and agreement. His shirt raises and exposes his boxers and a little bit of his toned and tanned stomach. I quickly lift my eyes and see him smirking at me, caught.
“I'm going to get ready for bed, do you need anything?" I ask, ever the polite host.
“No, no, I'm good. Thank you, Mandy," Lucas smiles when he says my name then he drops down to the floor wrapping a blanket around him. His eyes close almost as quickly as his friends did.
When I return from the bathroom, dressed in my pajamas, I hear his soft breathing. I sit down on the bed and watch him out of the corner of my eye. He looks like he's asleep but when I get into bed and turn off the light I hear his voice.
“Goodnight, Mandy," his sleepy voice is even sexier than his normal one.
“Goodnight, Lucas," I reply softly and I hear him sigh peacefully before the snoring takes over.
