DAMON I should have known. I should have wondered why I hadn’t received any calls or disturbances since morning. I consumed myself with meeting after meeting throughout the days; I was already planning my grand debut back into society and getting revenge on Killian after years of planning. I planned to get Brynn to sign over some documents so the Goldcrest pack could be fully mine. By all rights, everything would have gone to her son Kieran, and that made a wave of anger and jealousy pour heavily that I’m never the first choice. And even to that little runt that Brynn cared for more than me. I had tried to take care of him as my own when he was born, but every day he grew bigger, the uncanny resemblance was just too much, and every day I could only think of Killian when I saw Kieran.
