The Clarification

Rionne's Pov As I approached them in the courtyard, their strong, muscular forms were silhouetted against the fading light. They were no longer the young scwany boys that I used to run and play around with. “Guys,” I announced as I walked towards them. “We need to talk.” Eric turned to face me first, his lips upturned in a smirk. “Rionne, how nice of you to come find us. We were just about to go find you.” “I’ve been thinking,” I began, trying to find the right words. “The way you're so all over me... it’s too much, too soon. You’re both overbearing and controlling, and I can’t breathe. I need you to stop.” “Is that so?” Ronan asked, a hint of amusement tugging at the corner of his mouth. Eric remained silent, but his eyes narrowed slightly, giving away his irritation. “Look, I understand that you want to protect me, but there’s a line, and you’ve crossed it,” I continued. “I need space to figure this out, to decide what I want.” “Decide what you want?” Sebastian growled, his aggravation clear. “We want you as our mate, Rionne. It’s not a matter of choice.” “Maybe not for you,” I spat. “But I’m not just some helpless damsel in distress waiting to be claimed. I have my choice, too, and I deserve a say in how my life unfolds.” “Nobody said you don’t have a choice,” Eric interjected. “But we can’t ignore the bond that connects us. Even if you deny us, we’re your Alphas, and that comes with certain... obligations.” “Obligations?” I scoffed. “You mean like submitting to your every whim? Sorry, but that’s not me.” Eric clenched his jaw. “We’re trying to keep you safe, Rionne. It’s our responsibility.” “Your father’s responsibility, not yours. Besides, responsibility and control are not the same thing,” I sighed. Their expressions darkened, and the air between us crackled with tension. As we stood there, locked in a heated standoff, I still felt the pull of their magnetic presence, the way my body craved their touch despite the anger boiling within me. Pathetic, Rionne, get yourself together. “Fine,” Eric said, breaking the silence. “We hear you, Rionne. We’ll give you space to think.” “Thank you,” I whispered. I stepped backward, the gravity of our encounter pressing heavily on my heart. I stumbled into my bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, a hundred feelings fighting for dominance in my chest. Desperately trying to take my mind off of them, I opened a book and began to flip through the pages. Nothing was sticking. I’m not even sure I was able to make sense of what I was reading. My mind was focused on Eric and Ronan….. their sexual aura mixed with malice sent excitement through me that both thrilled and terrified me. Can I truly resist them? Do I even want to? Maybe they can help me figure out who I am and what I want to do about it. Goddess knows no one else has been of any use. What if I just... gave in? Just one more time. Then I’ll go off and figure everything else out. But as the night wore on, I questioned my desires. Did I crave their protectiveness, or was it simply the danger they represented? And if I surrendered to them completely, would I lose myself in the process? In the darkness, my pillow was my comfort as my mind refused to still. Each day that passed, I became more and more ensnared in a spiral of emotions. Pleasure and pain, love and obsession mingled together until I no longer knew which was which. I struggled to free myself from my feelings for the Alpha twins, but the more I fought it, the deeper I became tangled in their web. * * * Walking through the trees for my usual evening stroll, I feel the early morning chill to my bones. I wrap the shawl around my body tightly, my nose very sensitive to the smell in the forest. As my thoughts drift to the twins and their alluring attraction. “Such f*****g assholes,” I grunted. Last thought at night. First thought in the morning. This was ridiculous. They were both so maddeningly attractive, their charisma holding an irresistible pull. And yet, their dominance grated on me, awakening a fierce defiance I had never known before. Ugh, not to mention how many women they’ve had s*x with in the pack, and Goddess knows how many outside of the pack, not to mention when they were off to training. I guess that comes with the territory of them being 25, and I only just turned 18. Frustrating to know I been saving myself for them, and they’ve just... been manwhores. Today is a new day. I will face it with grace and courage and forget those f*****g…….. “Flirting with danger, Rionne?” a voice startled me, his sudden appearance catching me off guard. “Ronan,” my heart almost skipped a beat. “What are you doing here?” I cried out. “What do you think? Protecting our territory,” he replied coolly, eyes narrowing as he studied me. “And keeping an eye on what belongs to us.” “Belongs to you?” I scoffed. “I thought we agreed that I needed space.” “Space, yes,” Eric’s voice chimed in, his tall frame emerging from behind a tree. “But that doesn’t mean we’ll let you wander alone in these trees.” “Please stop! I am not your property and refuse to be treated as such. The both of you, just stop!” “Still a feisty little thing you are, aren’t you?” Ronan taunted, stepping closer to me. His lips curved into a wicked grin, but I could see the flicker of frustration in his eyes. His hand grabbed my jaw as his lips flirted with mine. I wanted so badly to give in. “Ronan,” Eric growled, placing a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “Rionne has made herself clear, and as much as I want her to be ours, we cannot force this. We came here to make sure she's safe.” “Has she?” Ronan whispered, his lips still hovering near mine. “Or is this just another game she’s playing?” “Game?” I pulled away from him. “You think my feelings are some sort of game? You have no idea what it’s like to be torn between two worlds, to feel the weight of expectations crush you.” “Oh yes, we do,” Eric said. “We will and are respecting your wishes, Rionne. But we can’t deny our instincts either. We must protect our territory and our people, and that includes you. You have one week to decide. After that time, we will take what is ours. Until then, we have pack duties to attend.” “So it’s not really a choice then,” I sighed. “If you’re going to continue being obstinate, let me help with the pack. I am already a full blooded wolf. I can heal, I can empathize, and I can train alongside you.” They exchanged a wary glance before nodding in agreement. “It’s fine,” Ronan conceded. “At least this way, we can keep an eye on you, but remember…. our bond runs deep, and we’ll always watch over you. So try not to do stupid s**t anymore, alright?” “Very well understood,” I replied, feeling an uneasy truce settle between us.
