Oh Gosh, not my dad inviting Dax to lunch. I hope he doesn't freak out. I really like him and I hope he is not having second thoughts because, boy oh boy, this is fast for meeting the parents." We walk into the Fish House for brunch and I am sweating bullets. My mom sits beside me and tells me how handsome Dax is. I think to myself, hunny, don't I know it. The waitress comes over to take our horder and she is practically throwing herself at Dax. My mom, being my mom in which she has no filter, says "hunny, if you drool any harder we will need a new table. Pick your mouth up and kindly stop staring at my son-n-law and take our orders please?" I swear if the earth could swallow me whole, this is when I would need it to happen. I swear her and Rebecca could be mother and daughter. Dax couldn't contain his laughter and my dad is right there with him. The girl takes our order and walks off mortified. Hunny? Son-n-law really, my dad says, and then big belly laughs. My mom laughs and says, well a girl can hope. Our food arrives and I notice that Dax is no longer in conversation with my dad but is full out staring at me. "WHAT?" I accidently scream out. Dax is amused and says nothing, just sitting here wondering how I got so incredibly lucky and how dang proud I am of and for you. I I I I don't know what to say. Mentally kicking myself for stuttering- get it together rach. "Say you will go to dinner with me tomorrow night?" "I" done get to finish because my mom say yes she will go for me.
DAX POV
I am trying my best to contain myself. I just want to kiss her and then take her right here on the table in those heels. If her parents were not here. I have had to catch myself from saying something that her parents won't think of me as a perv. I have had to think of naked old women about a million times since she took that gown off and revealed the dress we wore on our first date. she is so nervous that I don't think that she has even eaten a bite of her food. When her mom tells the waitress I am her son-n-law, I cant even describe how that makes me feel. Her dad leans over and says "that is what you have to look forward to. Her mom was shy when I met her too, but over the years the spunk I saw beneath the surface came full force and I have a feeling my Rachael is going to be the same exact way." I find myself day dreaming about that day. I ask her to dinner and she agrees. The waitress comes and I ask for the check and let them know that this will be my treat and I hand Rachael a box containing her gift. " What is this Dax?" Your gift I tell her how lucky and proud I am to have her and of her. I know that she loves butterflies and, with the help of her friend Kensley, I got her a beautiful necklace and earrings. As she goes to open the box, Margie, her former clinical instructor, walks up to our table at that moment..
Rachael POV
Can it get any worse? Margie walks up and is giving me the death eye. Dax steps in "Margie to what do we owe the pleasure?" She turns to him and of course she looks like she has been given a million dollars because he spoke to her! Desperate much!" Dr. Reid, pleasure to see you as always. I was just about to tell Rachael congratulations, what are you doing here?" Dax grabs my hand and says " Well I came to see Rachael graduate and to finally ask her if she would do me the honor of being my girlfriend since she is no longer in school and lucky for me, she has agreed." If looks could kill I would be six feet under. She doesn't even say goodbye, just turns her nose up and walks away. Dax turns to me and says " What is a brunch without a little drama?
