Graduation

RACH POV 

Dax drops me off after the date at my front door and that kiss was amazing. Kens is waiting in my living room to see how the date went. I let her that it was awesome and gushed over everything we did and told her we scheduled for brunch for tomorrow. She tells me “I knew he was a good guy and I am so Happy for you Rach,” Kensly leaves and I am on cloud nine as I run up to my shower. The next morning at 7 Dax texts me in tells me that he just got called in for an emergency and that he was sorry to cancel brunch but hoping that we could reschedule. I let him know that that was OK, and we look forward to when we could have brunch just let me know. we continue to text over the next few days since I am no longer at the hospital for the last two weeks of clinicals because we are testing out final exams for graduation. However, Dax and I continue to text. He tells me all the time how he misses me and OR none of the other nurses can get it right. He is a really great guy, and I can see my self falling for him. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Rach don’t go getting attached to quickly, gosh I need to slow down. It’s the morning of graduation and I am sooooo excited. I haven’t talked to or text docs and all week since it's been so hectic, and I really miss him. We arrive at the stadium and it so packed. 7 schools are graduating today, the school of nursing will be the second announced. graduation is a blur, that heffa of a best friend of my is also Summa c*m laude. “RACH just so you know mt 4.2 GPA beats your 4.12 and you owe her a mani/pedi/massage as my prize for the bet we made, and I got into MED School!!!!! Kens screams at me.” We are definitely celebrating I hug her. I didn’t know that you applied early?! I scream at her. “I didn’t want to say anything in case I didn’t get in.” Becca and I squish her in a group hug! Becca screams I love you Itchs!!! I start to reprimand her, but I am cut off by a hand on my shoulder. I turn and see none other that DR. Daxton Reid himself.

Dax POV 

It has been a week of hell! The on-call Dr. is sick with the Flu and I was back up. Clinic was busy with the 3 of my colleagues trying to fill in for Dr. Mac. Charles my best friend since childhood and fellow CV surgeon comes into my office and lays on the floor. He is so dramatic. “Dax have you talked to Rach? Are you going to her graduation tomorrow?” No not really besides a good morning text and goodnight, I want to, but I am on-call for Mac still. “Only because you seem to really like this girl and she is the only girl I have seen you interested in since Tasha I will take the call for you” Charles says. I could kiss you; I tell him. “Whoa Romeo, no thank you! I am happy to do it, if it means you have finally moved past the b***h Tasha cheating skank Jones.” I roll my eyes, Charles I have been over her, I was just focused on making chief surgeon back in Texas. Which paid off because now we are here, and I was able to bring my big-headed player of friend with me here. “Yea yea whatever go home and get some rest, so you don’t look dead when you see her tomorrow.” I am standing behind her and I so nervous. What is wrong with me? I have never been like this with any woman before in my life. What if she is mad that we haven’t been talking, what if she didn’t want me here. I see Tara a fellow nursing student graduation making her way toward me. The girl works my nerve and has been making passes at me all semester. I was about 3 steps from turning her in to her clinical supervisor. Who would have ripped her a new one, because she herself asked me for dinner and I turned her down. I didn’t even hesitate and more. I touch Rach’s arm and when she turned, I pulled her in my arms and kissed her. Just as Tara got to us, I said out loud “Finally I get to do that because you are no longer a student, and I am free to ask you on a date!” She looks stunned for a second but then when she takes in the surroundings she winks in understanding. He friends bid her goodbye and Tara walks away. “Rach I am sorry we haven’t really talked this week, I have been so swamped at work, I….” I am cut of when she kisses me and says you don’t have to explain, I understand the nature of your work and besides, Becca has been talking to one of the male nurses and he told her you have been taking call for Dr. Mac. I sighed in relief and laughed because the gossip never stops. “Rachael Darling! Daddy and I are so proud of you. Bradley hunny she is over here.” Oh, snap this is her parents. We have only been dating for 3 weeks so I doubt she wants me to meet her parents. I am such an i***t I didn’t even think about the fact her parents would be here. As I go to tell her I will wait while she speaks with her parents her father walks up and her mom says “Hunny, she is here and this is…..” Rachael looks at me and say this is Dr. Daxton Reid, (she didn’t want to tell them, my heart hurts but I understand) my boyfriend, and before you start, we haven’t been dating long he wanted to wait until graduation before asking me out but didn’t know if I planned on staying in the area so asked me before.” I smiled 1 I was so happy she was not ashamed to say I was her boyfriend but to because her dad started to deep belly laugh. “Son you have your work cut out for you as I did with her mom”. He extended his hand and asked if we would join them for lunch.
