I had been listening to everything Asher was saying to the King, and I was wondering how he knew about all of that.
What if I hadn’t come back to be certain that Darius had taken the portion I made for him? Maybe I wouldn’t have known about it, that is, if Darius had been willing to tell me and not keep it a secret.
“You must have gone through a lot to find out about my little secrets,” I said with a smirk on my face, and he was yet to utter even a word.
“Is this true?” King Darius asked, and that was when I realized that my boldness was not going to last for so long.
