Chapter 45 I was glad not to have succumbed to the metaphorical darkness ten minutes later when my pack and I reconvened in the literal darkness in front of Dakota’s new home base. Because if I’d doused my empathy, I wouldn’t have been able to sense once-lost pack bonds reforming around me, the sensation almost unbearably sweet. I’d thought these connections were lost into the void months earlier. But as relatives now crowded in closer than would have been comfortable for any human, it became apparent that I couldn’t have been more wrong.
