Chapter 4

1059 Words
Olivia was straddled in a chair, watching TV when Oliver brought Kate in like a trophy. “Do you now love to torture your women?” She asked as she glanced at the screaming woman. Oliver threw her to the rug in the living room. “What do you think?” “She's pretty.” “You won't think so when you discover who she is.” “Who is she?” Margareth asked from the balcony before dragging her feet downstairs. “I couldn't sleep because of her shouting. Tell me, Oliver, did you kidnap her?” Oliver ran his fingers through his dark hair. “Technically.” “Technically?” Olivia repeated. “What? You've acquired a new taste of having your woman?” Oliver scoffed. “She isn't my type. She's not mine.” Margareth’s hands were crossed at her chest. The lady before her was almost, if not, her age. While Oliver's s****l escapades didn't surprise her, his last statement got her interested. “Let me guess…an ex to one of your stupid friends?” “They're not stupid just because they don't want to have anything to do with you, Maggie.” Maggie rolled her eyes. All this time, Kate remained head bowed on the rug, too ashamed to lift her head, dreading the announcement from Oliver. All her life, she hated her step mother coming into her life and taking everything from her. Now, she was about to be a step mom. But Oliver's strong grip lifted her tear filled face to the two ladies who were staring at her curiously. “What's it, damn it, Oliver? What have you gotten yourself into this time?” “Meet our new mum.” The statement iced up the room in milliseconds. A scowl appeared on Margareth's face while Olivia's face transformed into something that scared the daylight out of Kate. “Mum?” Oliver clapped. “Mum's barely been gone and father is getting a new wife already.” Olivia scoffed. “This must be one of your silly pranks, Ol. I'm not in the mood for jokes. Take your b***h to your room. I don't care what you do to her.” “This…” Oliver pulled her up and Kate's head remained bowed. “...is daddy's new toy and your step mom.” Magareth was too annoyed to ask a question. Not only was father ruining the memories of their late mother, he was marrying a girl almost her age. She strode up to her in record time and grabbed a handful of blonde hair. “Who are you?” She demanded. “I wanna hear you say it. Say it, damn it!” Oliver chuckled beside her like it was funny. It only angered Margareth. A slap landed across Kate's cheek as she pushed her to the ground. “I dare you to say it. b***h!” “No way.” Olivia stepped into the scene, recovering from the shock of the news. “Dad is getting remarried?” Oliver dug his hand into his pocket and took out the papers. “Sealed and delivered.” Olivia's hand reached for the paper, her eyes scanning through the legal jargons. Margareth was too annoyed to read. “I can't let this happen,” she said, ripping the paper into pieces. Oliver's eyes followed the pieces as they sprawled over the rug. “It doesn't change a thing. Turns out dad prefers them young.” “Or she prefers them old.” If Kate thought Margareth was cruel, she had yet to feel Olivia's wrath. “Tell me…!” Her voice thundered. “Why did you seduce my father? What do you hope to gain from becoming an Anderson?” She grabbed her hair, yanking and punching. “You have no place here, do you understand?” She spat at her. “You're nothing but a w***e. You can never be my father's wife.” Oliver stood as his sisters exacted their anger on Kate, hitting and cursing profusely. “You wanna be my mum? Right, mummy? I want to hear you call me daughter. Say it!” Kate was losing it already. Today was supposed to be her birthday, all her money had been taken away from her, and now, she was being attacked. “I don't want to be your mum!” She screamed. For a moment, her tone took the sisters aback. Oliver stepped into the scene, smiling menacingly, his green eyes boring into her. Kate looked away and in that moment she saw it. A file. There was no mistaking. She had seen the name boldly and clearly. Sarah Pearce. That was her late mother's file. Why was her mother's file in this house? But Oliver's voice downed the thought. “Nice play, Kate. Or should I say…mum? I know what street urchins like you are capable of doing. You want to be an Anderson so badly that you don't mind riding my old man? You think you fit in here? You're sorely mistaken because I will make your life miserable until you can no longer stay here.” His threat didn't mean much to Kate at that moment. Her heart was racing with endless thoughts. What was in that file and why was it in this house? Was this related to the empty trust fund? “You know what?” Margareth asked, her voice sounding strangely excited. “Let's throw a party for our new mum. NY deserves to see the face of the gold-digger.” Oliver walked towards the table and grabbed the file Kate's eyes had been peeled on. “You know what? I don't care if you throw a f*****g party or an orgy.” Olivia was smiling naughtily. “Let's throw a party to welcome our step mom, Maggie. Wouldn't that be appropriate? And maybe send videos to dad to show how we're settling in very much with his new wife.” Kate's eyes followed Oliver up the stairs as the Anderson sisters reeled about the welcoming party. All Kate wanted to do was escape. Run away from her family who had sold her and this cruel place. But now, she had a reason to stay. She had to find out why her mother's file was in Oliver's possession and what the file contained.
