God. From everyone I could bump into, I had to bump into him. Chad Creston, the most cocky, self-centred and i***t of all the men I know. Don't get me wrong, he is one good looking son of a b***h, but he's awfully aware of that. I remember that I had the biggest crush on him when I was in fifth grade. He was the pretty boy of the school, but highschool doesn't last forever and the real world won't go easy on you for being good looking. Something tells me he had his share of loss. I know he has a little boy, and that his relationship it's long gone, maybe he corrected some of his ways. Anyway, that's not of my concern, I'm here for Dalilah. It's been ages since I came out of my routine and I don't plan on wasting any of my time with men. Neusa and Nora are with my mom and they'll stay there for the whole weekend, which means?... Me time!!!! She's turning 31, and we're celebrating! - Hey, Al? - Alex brings me back to earth - Who's that fine piece of ass? - she asks me looking at the three morons behind me. I look back and notice Chad looking back. I quickly avert my eyes so that he doesn't get the wrong idea. - That, my friend, it's a c**k in his natural habitat. We all laugh, of course. - Well, that c**k has his eyes very much focused on you, my dear... - Dalilah says. - Oh yes, instead of a c**k he looks more like a wolf hunting. - Catrina chimes in and all of them look at me raising their eyebrows. - Hell no! You guys know I don't do animals. We all laugh again and Catrina almost chokes in her drink. - Al, you broke up with Andrew a long time ago. Isn't it time to enjoy yourself a little?... - Dalilah asks. - You know that you deserve someone. Or maybe just some fun for once. It's been years, girl... - Alex supports her. - I know, okay? I know, I just don't feel it anymore, you know?... - I answer them. - Oh, I think that man over there would bring up many feelings upon you, my dear. - Yes, Alex's right, he looks like he knows what to do, exactly... - Catrina looks at me, provocatively. Meanwhile, the two other morons came to us and invite Catrina and Dalilah to dance. They giggle and accept and me and Alex stay there looking at them and laughing at their reaction. But not long after, another guy comes and invites Alex to dance. It's always been like this, I don't usually get interaction in places like this, my friends say that because I look so confident and comfortable alone men avoid me in fear of rejection. That's probably true. I'm no greek goddess, but I do stand out from most women both in looks and behaviour. I stead of staying here, I move to the bar on the outside and ask for another Martini. - That one's on me, Connor. And I'll have the usual. I look at where the voice comes from and see Chad Creston's figure coming at me. The bartender serves my drink and I try to figure out what he's having. Rum. - Why are you so curious about my drink, love? - he takes the lead. - I was wondering if you were having something strong enough to get to talk to me or some p***y drink. - I say and grin mischievously. He smiles at my comment. - You talk like if don't know what you cause... - he mutters and takes a sip. - I do know. But usually, I get lots of eyes and no talk at all. - Do you know why is that? - he asks. - Well, my friends say that I inspire fear. - we both laugh a little. - It's not you they fear... - I look at him curiously - It's rejection, love. - And you, of course, don't suffer from that, right? - this time I'm the one drinking. - Of course I do, - he states - but I'll do it if the price it's worth the risk. - Funny, I used to think we shared a past that would keep you away from that kind of madness. - we now laugh more. - Our brief interactions were not fair, you were, what, 14?... - he asks laughing. - I think so, yes... As funny as it might be, we were getting along just fine. He seems to have changed a little bit of his old ways, and I like that he talks about his son with a glitter in his eyes. And we spend almost an hour talking about love, kids and really catching up until he invites me to dance. I take him on his offer and we know that lots of eyes are on us right now. The rhythm it's slow and sexy and we dance close, so close that I can smell him and feel hot about it. By the time he talks, his voice sounds huskier and his breathing rapid. - It would be to silly of me to invite you out of here, wouldn't it? I too, felt the s****l tension between us, and that kind of scared me. - I'm, I'm not sure that would be a great idea... - I answer. - Why? Are you seeing someone? - he asks looking into my eyes as we dance. His forehead against mine, his lips inches from mine. - I'm not, that's the thing. I haven't been "seeing" anyone in almost 4 years... The song ends and so do his questions, the only question it's in his eyes and I don't really feel like talking about it, since I too don't have an explanation. I know what he wants to know, if I don't have s*x in that much time, and why, but that's already too much trouble. - Well, I better go. It was fun though, see ya! - I wave my goodbyes not bothering about farewells to my friends and almost fly out of there, before things get weird.
