Chapter Two - Becca and Tyler

1466 Words
Rebecca’s P.O.V I had been enjoying my day off, enjoying having the house to myself while Jake was at work, slept until midday, well was up with Jake this morning to get his breakfast ready while he got ready, he does the same for me if I am away first. Jake wouldn’t be back until about seven P.M. That gave me a few hours to do as I please, my choice? Snuggle on the sofa with my favorite blanket, re-watch Ugly Betty and eat ice cream…the perfect night in for me. I got settled down on the sofa, nice warm and comfortable, ready not to move until Jake gets home. I hit play and as I did there was a knock on the door. Who is that? And why did they have to disturb me? I knew it wouldn’t be Jake, he would have text me if he was coming home early or forgot his keys. I was going to ignore it, until it went again. I groaned, sitting my things down, wrapping the blanket tightly around me since I was only in a pair of shorts and a sports bra. I looked through the small peep hole, surprised when I see Tyler standing there. What is he doing here? He has only been hear once since we moved in, Jake usually goes out and meets him or goes to his place. I can’t let him see me like this but I can’t not just not answer the door that would be rude. I groaned to myself, fixing my hair the best I could, never even brushed it today, yes I am lazy on my days off, I deserve to me. I took a deep breath before opening the door, making sure I don’t make myself look like an i***t. I have had the biggest crush on him since I was twelve, I sometimes get a stuttering mess around him. “Hi…” I whispered trying to sound normal and not like some shy little girl which I am not…shy but around him I seem to be. “Hey Becca, long time no see.” He smiled Becca, the name he always called me, he never called me Rebecca. I swear he gets more beautiful the older he gets. “Yes It has been a while.” I smiled “Is my little brother in?” he asked “No he is working, won’t be back for a few hours.” I said “Oh…OK.” He said seeming disappointed “Anything I can help you with?” I asked, leaning against the door frame I don’t know what I could help him with but I thought would ask to be nice I guess. “Honestly I was just bored, wanted to see if he wanted to hang out, go grab a game of pool or something, but will find something else to do.” He laughed “You can…um can in and wait if you like?” I said “Actually ignore that, sure you have better things to do than keep little old me company.” I added laughing out of nerves. He paused for a moment, looking at me and I was waiting for him to say goodbye, turn and walk away, heading in the direction of the better offer but that is not how it went, instead…. “Yeah why now, if you don’t mind anyway?” He asked “No course not, give a chance to catch up.” I smiled We have always been friendly towards one and each other, chat when we see each other. I often wondered if he knew I have been crushing on him for years. I know Jake knows even though I would never admit it to him. “Sounds good…you ate?” he asked walking in “Not yet, was going to order in Chinese, that way Jake can have something when he gets home.” I smiled “You fancy it?” I added He nodded and we headed inside, calling for food…enough to us plus extra for Jake when he gets home. I excused myself, deciding to go put more clothing on, too warm to stay wrapped in my blanket all night. I pulled on a hoodie over the top of me, keeping the shorts on. I headed back through and he had made himself comfortable on the sofa, his shoes and jacket off. I am not surprised that is him down to a tee. He looked up, hearing me coming and his eyes fell on my bare legs and made their way up to my face. “Who knew you had such nice legs under those jeans or sweats you are always wearing.” He laughed I feel my cheeks heat up, looking at the ground. He has never complimented me in that way. He has seen me in dresses, skirts and shorts before, so no idea why he is saying that. I pulled myself together, going over to sit next to him. “You have seen them before…my legs.” I giggled “Maybe but clearly I wasn’t looking right.” He laughed “Sorry that was inappropriate of me.” he added “It is OK…” I laughed. **** I was enjoying my time with Tyler, he and I have never spent this much time alone before, it was sort of nice. He was hilarious, he always has been. Not only that, I was enjoying our conversations too. “I am curious you and Jake have been best friends for years, has anything ever happened between you? I just find it hard to believe that a guy and a girl can be as close as you two and nothing has happened.” He said This was a common thing, many people asked the same questions. Guys and girls can be friends and people need to get over that but I am not sure if that will ever change. I laughed, shaking my head... "Nothing has ever happened between Jake and I…nothing ever will. We are best friends, nothing more than that. Why is that so hard to believe?” I laughed “Fine, fine…I thought I would ask.” He laughed “You and everyone else…the thought of anything happening between us is just wrong.” I laughed He changed the subject after that. We got back to the movie, a comfortable silence falling between us. I sneaked a few glances at him, hoping he never seen be doing it. I couldn’t help it, he was just beautiful. His dark hair, his perfect jawlines, his gorgeous eyes and lips…lips I have often wonder what would feel like to kiss but I couldn’t go down that road, couldn’t do that to Jake, plus I am not exactly his type. “Hey I am home…” I hear Jake call out, what it that time already “We are in the living room.” I called back “We? Who is we?” he laughed stepping into the living room looking confused “Bro what you doing here?” he added surprised to see him “I came over to see you cause I was bored but you were at work so instead I stayed and hung out with Becca.” He smiled “OK…cool.”  Jake asked still a little confused I am guessing the last person he was expecting to see hanging out here with me was Tyler. Tyler headed to grab a quick shower before he joined us, taking the seat right in between us, making the both of us look at him strangely. “I don’t trust you…” He laughed pointing to Tyler “Hey! What do you take me for? She is your best friend, I would never go there.” Tyler laughed I knew that but actually hearing him say that was very disappointing, even though no matter if I was not Jake’s best friend I would still not have a chance with him. I feel my cheeks heat up as the argued back and forth about me, seeming to forget I was actually sitting here. “I am here you know? Please stop?” I giggled Yes I giggled but I was still feeling a little uncomfortable with the conversation they were having. They both apologized and changed the subject, thank God because if not this night could have become seriously awkward.
