A note from the Author
I thoroughly enjoyed writing this novel. I lived in Market Harborough for almost six years, raising four small children in the folds of its rich tapestry. It was not an easy time in my life but I was welcomed there. My characters are always a smorgasbord of many people whom I either know or imagine, but I am sure that very occasionally, my good friends will see themselves reflected in Lara’s complicated friendships.
I am certain that local historians will be scandalised at my a***e of the town’s colourful history and I apologise for any frustration or anger at my apparent ludicrous artistic licence. I am an archivist by trade and a romantic at heart. And the honest truth is that I love Market Harborough and whilst I have mangled its legacy, mean it no ill will.
