Chapter Ten - Homecoming Kathy arrived home exhausted. Her hand shook as she put the key in the garage door lock. It was four A.M. The drive back was a complete blank. The last thing she remembered was paying her bill and the woman’s parting words. She poured herself a small glass of brandy and sat down next to the telephone. She felt much as she had when she first saw the pets circling slowly in the murky water. The brandy burned her throat but did little to quiet her nerves.
