Chapter 4 Mortal Enemies

When I finally arrived of the said hospital. I immediately went to the desk where people asked stuffs about the hospital specially to where a specific person was admitted. After being told that Divina Mercy Martinez Garcia, which is my mom is currently in the 4rth floor, I hurriedly went to one of the elevators of the building where i'm currently at now.

I don't understand why of all the hospital, dad brought mom and Marie here. Except that this hospital is one of the most expensive, private hospitals here in our country, this whole building is also owned by no other than the Villarreal family. Yes, they owned this and many more. I don't know why they have hospital when none of their family clan members is a doctor.

After the elevator's door opened. I immediately get out from it and went straight to the private room where the assistant nurse told me to go to. D*amn! why is mom also in a private room?! I mean I only want the best for her too but we all know that we can't afford such! what's going on here?

Now i'm finally facing the room's door. I don't know why but it suddenly became hard for me to knock on it. I took a deep breath first before I finally had the courage to knock twice on it. I was just about to knock for the third time when the door unexpectedly opened.

"Finally you're here, Evian." Dad stated with a relief on his voice.

After he opened the door widely enough for me to enter. The very first person that I saw is mom, laying on the hospital bed. There's no hospital equipment that is attached to her but she looks really weak and tired even though she's smiling sweetly to me now.

"Mom..."

I hurriedly walked towards her bed and sit on the edge of it.

"W-what happened mom? how are you now?" I worriedly asked to her as I held her hand. It's been a while since her asthma attacked her.

Maybe she's working too hard again and exhausted herself to all the house chores she's been doing every single day. Does she even still have her meds? she has meds that is needed to be maintained but I couldn't remember anymore when's the last time she asked for it. Tsk.

"Don't worry, i'm fine now. Thanks to your father who immediately brought me here in the hospital." She happily stated as she weakly turned her head to the side where dad is currently standing.

Dad smiled to her too as he leaned and kissed mom's forehead. I lowered my head when I remembered that I failed again in finding a job today. How am I supposed to tell them that unfortunately, i'm still jobless up until now?

"Umm, dad." I looked at him with a conflicted emotions in my eyes. "W-why did you brought mom here? I mean how are we supposed to pay the bill-"

"Owh about that," He interrupted as he laughed nervously. "You don't have to worry anything about it!" He assured as he transferred his gaze to mom who's now smiling suspiciously too.

I looked at them individually with questions in my eyes. "W-what do you mean?" I asked confusedly to them but none of them responded. Oh come on!

I was just about to opened my mouth again when the door suddenly opened making the three of us to look at it's direction.

"Brother you're finally here!" Marie happily exclaimed as she hurriedly walked towards me and hugged me. I also did the same thing to her.

Why didn't I realized that she wasn't here earlier! where did she came from?

"Where did you came from?" I confusedly asked to her as we finally let go of each other's arms.

I even became more confused when I noticed that she's currently holding two cornetto ice cream in both of her hands. So that's why I felt something cold on the back of my neck when she hugged me earlier.

"Do you want one?" She sincerely offered as she raised one of the ice cream infront of my face.

"Where did you get these?"

"Owh this yummy ice creams?" She stopped for a while to lick one of it messely. "Lady Aphrodite bought them for me!" She giggled and before I could even fully understand what she said. We heard another sound of the door opening causing all of us to stop and put all of our attentions there.

"Marie I also brought you cookies here-"

She immediately stopped when we happened to look at each others eyes at the same time. My mind went completely blank as my lips parted unconsciously. She's here, why on earth is she here?

"Owh, so my future husband has finally arrived!" She smirked as she gave Marie the box of cookies.

I stood up and make a face. What on earth did she just called me? I heard mom and dad giggled causing me to get more annoyed. Does they knew she's here?

"Why are you here?" I asked bitterly to her.

"Evian!" Dad hissed but the crazy woman just laughed like I said something funny.

"They owned this hospital brother, remember?" Marie interrupted making the three of them laughed probably because of her silliness.

"You're sister's right, darling." She mockingly stated as she crossed her arms around her chest and leaned on the door. Darling?

"I know Marie. That's not what I mean," I sighed. Felling exhausted and betrayed by my own sister. "Could you just please focus on eating there? we already told you that interrupting to an adults conversation is bad."

She pouted. "I'm sorry..."

"No it's okay. Just continue eating there." Argh! how can I get mad of that adorable face of her?

"Dad what is she doing here? can someone please explain to me what's happening here?" I desperately pleaded to them.

D*mn! I feel like a complete fool here. I'm totally confused and clueless, hold up. I think i'm going crazy any minute from now, i'm feeling exhausted!

"Listen here Evian." Dad started as he walked towards my direction. "The reason why Lady Aphrodite is here is because she saved us earlier..." My eyebrows furrowed. Saved them from what?

"Well, the real reason why you're mom was here is that-"

"I got holdap earlier when i'm walking home from the market causing me to get a heart attack..." My eyes widen in friction. She got holdap?

"What? who are they?! what did they did to you mom, tell me!" I don't know but a sudden feeling of rage filled me. D*mn those bastards!

"Calm down Evian, they didn't got to do something for luckily, Lady Aphrodite came in from out of nowhere and fought them..." Mom turned her gaze to Aphrodite who's now sitting beside Marie while wiping her cheeks that are now kinda messed with cupcake bits.

She suddenly looked at us and smiled awkwardly. "I-it's nothing Mrs. Garcia." She humbly stated as she focused her whole attention again to Marie who looks so happy while being pampered by her.

Oh please can she stop acting like she's nice? it doesn't suit her!

"Then after it, she immediately brought your mom here and called me, good thing Marie's class ended early so we went here after she called me." Dad smiled thankfully to Aphrodite who didn't saw it.

My gaze landed to mom's hand who's now holding my arm. "She saved me, Evian."

"And how can we be sure that she didn't plan any of this to insist to us her family's--"

"I'm not that desperate, Evian." She suddenly interrupted. Making me to feel a little tension between the two of us. "I did not plan any of these, it just happened that I came across Mrs. Garcia and saw her in a dangerous situation. I went out of my car and delayed my supposed to be birthday party to send your mom here." She stated in monotone voice making all of us to get speechless. Specially me.

"Oh right! isn't today your 20th birthday Lady Aphrodite?!" Dad suddenly asked, he looks completely clueless and shocked.

"Yes, but it's fine. I don't really like parties and Mrs. Garcia's life is more important so please don't worry about anything." She calmly assured to dad as she fixed her crumpled t-shirt.

"Happy birthday, Lady Aphrodite. I'm sorry for this inconvenience we caused you." Dad greeted with a hint of sorriness in his voice.

"Happy birthday, Lady Aphrodite. Thank you so much for saving me..." Mom also greeted to her thankfully.

"Happy birthday Lady Aphrodite!!" Marie happily greeted too as she jumped from the sofa and hugged Aphrodite's legs.

"Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Garcia." She smiled to them. "Thank you Marie!" She added as she patted Marie's head.

I don't know but after all their greetings to her. I suddenly felt guilty for something, maybe a guilt for acting too bad on her when it's her birthday and she saved my mom? but she can't blame me though if i'm acting like this, i'm hundred percent sure she knows that.

"I know you still hate me for I what I did to you before but can you please set it aside even just for now and listen to me for a while?" Now she sounds a little bit pissed, completely different from the 'smiling' Aphrodite earlier.

I don't know but I kinda panicked when she started to take steps towards me. Does she really needs to come closer to me?!
